Young Liverpool defender David Raven is set to join Tranmere Rovers on loan until the end of the season. The England u20 international has been a target for Rovers boss Brian Little for some time, and was the subject of a similar enquiry last summer. Liverpool were reluctant to allow the player to leave then, but the arrival of Jan Kromkamp has given Rafa Benitez quality cover for Steve Finnan and Raven will now be allowed to go to Prenton Park.
It will be an ideal move for Raven, who lives on the Wirral and was at Tranmere until Liverpool swooped for him when he was 14. The versatile defender had become increasingly frustrated with reserve team football, and will relish the opportunity to get some first team experience under his belt.
Raven picked up a slight knee injury in last night's reserve win at Wolves, but is only expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks and it shouldn't affect the deal with Tranmere.
