Mellor Injury Blow

Neil Mellor's injury nightmare continues, with the news that he will be sidelined until December after failing to recover properly from the surgery he underwent on both knees last January. The striker has been unable to train properly, and after seeing a specialist has now been told he will not be able to return to action for another three or four months.

Mellor has been plagued by knee trouble for the past couple of seasons, and had hoped that the double operation would clear the problem up once and for all. The news caps what has been a miserable 2005 for the 22 year old. First there was the injury problem which ruled him out of the second part of last season, then he missed out on a Champions League Winners medal and the following day he was one of several players left behind as the rest of the squad went on the open top bus victory parade.

The striker will no doubt be looking for a change of fortune in 2006.
