Ecclestone: Hitler got things done
Apparently, Bernie Ecclestone has come out with a load of crap about Hitler getting things done. Is he actively trying to get more negative publicity for Formula One or is he just an absolute idiot?
Bernie Ecclestone expresses admiration for leadership style of Hitler and Saddam | Sport | guardian.co.uk
(extract)
Ecclestone, who has been fighting recently to prevent a damaging breakaway by formula one's leading teams, said: "In a lot of ways, terrible to say this I suppose, but apart from the fact that Hitler got taken away and persuaded to do things that I have no idea whether he wanted to do or not, he was in the way that he could command a lot of people, able to get things done," he said.
He added: "I prefer strong leaders. Margaret Thatcher made decisions on the run and got the job done. She was the one who built this country up slowly. We've let it go down again. All these guys, Gordon and Tony are trying to please everybody all the time ... Max would do a super job, he's a good leader." Apparently referring to the fact that the president of the FIA, the sport's ruling body, was the son of Sir Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Union of Fascists, he added: "I don't think his background would be a problem."
He continued: "Politicians are too worried about elections. We did a terrible thing when we supported the idea of getting rid of Saddam Hussein, he was the only one who could control the country. It was the same with [the Taliban.]"

He might be filthy stinking rich and be able to pull way above his league, but even he has to realise he looks like an Elton John midget doll. At least get lifts for your shoes, you fascist and tyrannical dictatorship supporting troll.

I'd have pushed the Thatcher angle on that myself

Frankly outrageous.

Yeah: Bernie in a Nazi uniform, barking orders, and Max on all fours wearing a gimp outfit and chomping on a horse's bit.

I had the impression that he was a grade one arsehole before I read that and I see nothing to change my mind. His syrup is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. (It is a syrup, surely?)

Re: Ecclestone: Hitler got things done
Strange really.
Didnt he give the Labour Party £1m ? either just before or just after Blair got in.
He also forgot to mention Mussolini made the trains run on time.

Coincidentally, it was just before the Labour government decided to exempt Formula 1 from the tobacco advertising ban!
They had to give it back.

Whilst I think he chose some poor examples, I sympathise with the point he is trying to make.
Leaders should lead. You can't please all the people all the time, and quite frankly not only should you not try to, but most people aren't worthy of the fucking effort. It is a fundamental flaw with democracy in my opinion.

Re: Ecclestone: Hitler got things done
i think he had a point about S H, I thin Iraq is probably about to even more a terrorist state over the next couple of years now the yanks have handed over.
Hitler comments were not very well placed. There's probably a few other people in history who got things done.

Re: Ecclestone: Hitler got things done
Hitler had the right ideas just went the wrong away about them was something I was one told.
Maybe Bernie likes the softer side of old Adolf, you know the painter, the man who let his feelings be displayed in a portrait of a field with some sheep, and some trees and shit.
I reckon Noos sums up my feelings on the article perfectly.

Nice to see Hitler, Saddam and Thatcher lumped together in the same bracket, though.
