Suspending campaigning to return to Washington and solve the financial crisis, ducking out of the debates and challenging Obama to follow suit...

Seriously, the guy has admitted countless times, he knows dick about economic matters. What's he gonna do? Oversee the financial experts in their brainstorming sessions or make them tea? He's about as useful to them as an asshole on their elbow.

This posturing is ridiculous. It's obvious he's shitting it about being humiliated in the debate on Friday and wants out. If the American people see that he cannot be eloquent on this matter then he's utterly screwed and he knows it.

So, he seeks a preemptive strike, so that it looks to the American people that he's the purposeful "country first" mover and shaker on this issue rather than the know nothing, war mongering, elitist, Charlie colaborating bastard he really is.

Suspend campaigning indeed. It's five weeks until the election.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the start of something much darker. An end of the Republic-style, Revenge Of The Sith-esque, Emergency Power-granting situation whereby the Administration somehow use the current crisis to cancel the election. I know it's constitutionally impossible, but that hasn't stopped them once since 9/11. This worries me, greatly.

It's a masterstroke, really, he's underlining that Obama doesn't have the foggiest idea about economics.

However, it doesn't matter because Presidents don't really need to know dick all about a lot of things since they have 1274507885 advisors whom are smarter, more educated, and more experienced in their fields than the presidents.

Since the average american isn't exactly politically savvy, they won't realise this so its a masterstroke.

He's trying to play the 'country before politics' card IMO, as that's the Republicans' m.o at the best of times.

At the same time though, his party could also face a serious backlash from all this shit if Obama's people play it right, seeing as Democrats traditionally are seen as less friendly to the banks and financial institutions, Bush has also come in for flack for the way he's handled the economy in the past too (which McCain has tried to distance himself from)

And in fact the last time the US economy had any lead in its pencil was when Clinton was in charge.

Two-pronged move here really which can't really backfire, he's seen as the patriot, and also pulling out of the battleground where his party is most vulnerable (the economy, second only to the war(s))

If Obama doesn't play ball, in the eyes of some he'll be seen as putting the election before the health of the US economy, and if he does acquiesce, he's seen as weak and following McCain's lead.

The Republicans are pissing me off more and more with this shit, first the trick with Palin to pull in Clinton's voters, now this shit, it's a full-blown guerrilla campaign.

McCain has given one press conference in five weeks, he's worried. The Palin effect has worn off and she's being exposed for the inexperienced pick she initially looked. Clinton has been on two major US shows talking up Obama (well, the Democrats) and the Republicans are slipping behind in the points again. McCain doing this is a risky move, he's trying to look like he cares but he can't affect anything at this point.

That's exactly what they'll be looking to do again. The polls won't mean shit if blacks, latinos and other various democrats in important swing states like Ohio and Florida have their votes stolen from them; as they surely will.
