The Good News Thread
Not getting evangelical. There's so much shit in the news, there must be some joy somewhere.
My cousin got married a few years ago. They started trying for a baby quite soon afterwards. They had a baby boy, who died unexpectedly within minutes of being born. She's never got over it, and has been trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant ever since. A couple of years ago they turned to IVF. She put her name down with the NHS, knowing there was a long waiting list. In the meantime they used all their savings and paid privately for it 3 times, with no joy. Then her husband was made redundant so they couldn't afford to keep trying. She knew she must be near top of the NHS list by now, so she rang her doctor a couple of months ago to check on her progress and discovered that due to an administrative fuck up they'd never actually been put on the list. She was devastated and had to accept that they'd never be parents.
She rang me this morning to tell me she's 6 weeks pregnant. Nothing could make me happier right now, I feel euphoric. I also got Stereophonics tickets just to make me super happy.
Along with Stouffer's impending nuptials, you all must have something positive to the good news thread, even Section. Come on, do eet!

Re: The Good News Thread
I still have a full head of hair, despite the fact I'm in my mid-thirties and virtually every other male in my family is bald. Not exactly ground-breaking news I know, but I'm rather happy aboot it.
Congratulations to your cousin!

W00t! How did you pull that one off?? Enjoy, you've earned it!
PS. Fingers crossed for your friend! It makes me feel doubly lucky that not only do I have 3 healthy kids, but they didn't cost me a brass farthing (not until they were born anyway!)

Be proud of your mane! On the subject of hair and mid-thirtiesness, I went to Boots today to buy a hair dye, and they were BOGOF. Get in!

Yeah, they went quicker than a 100m sprinter on Steroids.
They are free as well which was even better news.

aaah Liz thats fantastic news.
My good news is that I got a nice little cheque on Friday as my life insurance policy matured. Before anyone decides to be extra nice to me in the hopes of getting some money, then forget it, its being spent on a new TV and DVD recorder, and whats left over is going towards next years ****ball season ticket.

Great story that Ski, it's always nice to see some victories in world full of shitty shitness most of the time.
My good news is that the season has started again. I'm fucking made up, as sad as it may sound, it's the most important thing in my bleeding life.

I have some gammon left from lunchtime which I'm just about to microwave before bedtime. Life surely cannot get any better than this.
