Excellent idea. In hindsight, it was a very good film. As I said, I thought the hype machine tainted it just a tad.

Re: Just got back from the Dark Knight...
I saw it, and even sitting in the second row, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ledger played the Joker to perfection, Gary Oldman was excellent. Wasn't terribly impressed with Ms. Maggie, or Mr. Eckhart, but that didn't hurt the film too much. Bale was again excellent, but I will say that I wish the scenes with him and Ledger weren't so disjointed, I really think the two characters could have had an amazing face off. All in all, I was pleased, and to me it goes to show that a strong villain can make a movie so much better. That's right, I'm talking to you Lucas and Spielberg.

I can't wait, this will rule (especialy in a shit english cinema with lots of tits who are just there for the event) nothing can spoil this (even them!).
I look forward to Eckhart (who is excellent) and Bale who is always quality.
I (love) brackets.

Just checked my emails and have received two emails, one from and cousin in Oklahoma and one from a Cousin in New Hampshire and both say basically the same thing...
WHAT A FUCKING FILM!!!!
It must be good because one of them slates every film he watches for the smallest of reasons but this in his words was 'the shit and will be watched again at the weekend'.
I cant wait now.

Re: Just got back from the Dark Knight...
Going to see it next weekend. Looking forward to it.
Seen a few reviews on Metacritic which say it isn't a 'fun' as it could be.
For me, that misses the point. Batman has always been at it's best in it's darkest form (Burton, Graphic Novels) not in gay, camp TV shows / films.
I've seen it described as a comic book version of Heat. If it's 1/2 as good as Heat I'll leave the cinema a very, very happy man

Only negative feedback I've heard is that it's overlong, convoluted plot and the ending is anti-climatic.

maybe true but I liked that it was long because it was so good I didn't want it to end and the plot has a lot going on at times but that's good because you don't see things coming and there are good surprises.
The Ghost is just a part pooper don't listen to him I'm sure the vast majority will like it.

Re: The Joker (Now contains spoilers)
I was able to see this at the IMAX today. Just incredible. Feel free to have a read. No spoilers if you've seen the opening sequence trailer they released....
The Dark Knight IMAX Experience - www.t3.com
The Dark Knight IMAX Experience
Batman has never looked better.
As the gloomy and menacing opening credits dissolve high into the Gotham cityscape, the giant BFI IMAX screen threatens to engulf your face as it floods your field of vision. To your left, to your right. Straight ahead. It's all you can see.
A skyscraper window smashes and two men in clown masks ride a zipline 50 stories high. As you peer down at the specs of light packing the busy streets below, your stomach jumps and you can't help feel for the floor. Just to make sure. This is immersing cinema IMAX style and it's as real as it comes.
The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale as Batman and the late Heath Ledger as The Joker is the first feature film ever to be partially shot with 70mm IMAX cameras. Meaning for six incredible action set-pieces (over 20 minutes of footage) traditional 35mm letterbox screen is replaced by a full-screen experience, with unparalleled detail. It gives director Christopher Nolan a fitting canvas to paint his superhero masterpiece.
T3 was lucky enough to experience an advance screening of The Dark Knight at the BFI IMAX in London, The UK's largest screen, which has sold some 27,000 tickets ahead of Thursday's opening.
Without casting judgement beyond our remit, TDK will fast become an iconic piece of cinema to eclipse perhaps any other superhero outing. You'll see for yourself just how good. But The IMAX Experience puts you inside this picture, makes you part of the action and captivates in a way few cinematic experiences ever have. As Gotham's Guardian perches atop a cloud-cutting building, you're right there with him. Waiting. Blazing 18-wheelers fly towards you causing an intake of breath soon taken away by an exhilarating helicopter ride.
The foreboding switch from letterbox format to full screen IMAX is a cue to brace yourself for an assault on the senses. Perhaps it gives the game away? You know relative calm will soon yield to carnage, but in many ways anticipation is further built for some awe-inspiring action sequences. It almost becomes too much at times, inducing an unsettling motion sickness. But with Heath Ledger's maniacal Joker (He's better than the hype and better than Jack) on the loose there's plenty more to unsettle the tummy.
The Dark Knight is as good as anything the genre has ever produced. This is no surprise. All the cards were in place, namely The Joker. However, while exceeding expectations was impossible, the IMAX experience adds an intangible level of astonishment.
