Re: Pulp Fiction

A pleasant surprise as I didn't know it was on. I faded badly and went to bed at midnight, missing the last 45 minutes.

Re: Pulp Fiction

The dialogue in the car between Jules and Vincent is brilliant. Both times!

I am genuinely dumb-struck. I don't know whether to neg you for this gaping lapse, or pity you.

On the plus side, I wish there was a film that good that I was still to see for the first time. You are in for a real treat.

Got in on DVD years ago. Movie-making perfection. It doesn't get any better than Pulp Fiction.

Re: Pulp Fiction

The boy Tarantino knows how to do dialogue. Dialogue and soundtracks.

Yep. Kill Bill 1 & 2 are both quality, too. Too bad Tarantino seems like a bit of a knob in real life, just loves to hear his own voice! I would love to sift through his record collection though.

Favourite scene is Harvey Keitel cleaning up the car. Love that.

Re: Pulp Fiction

Its just 3 hours of perfection. The first couple of times I saw it, I thought the middle section of Jules and Mia on the date was really weak, and slowed the whole thing down. But watching it again, that is a gem of a scene (with Buscemi as the waiter), some cracking dialog in there:

VINCENT
A shake? Milk and ice cream?

MIA
Uh-huh.

VINCENT
It costs five dollars?

BUDDY
Yep.

VINCENT
You don't put bourbon in it or
anything?

BUDDY
Nope.

VINCENT
Just checking.
I like this little bit too:

Tony Rocky Horror.

That's one way to say it. Another
way is, he was thrown out. Another
was is, he was thrown out by
Marsellus. And even another way
is, he was thrown out of a window
by Marsellus because of you.

MIA
Is that a fact?

VINCENT
No it's not, it's just what I
heard.

MIA
Who told you this?

VINCENT
They.

Mia and Vincent smile.

MIA
They talk a lot, don't they?

VINCENT
They certainly do.

Re: Pulp Fiction

Did anyone ever see the deleted scenes? A few of them are deleted for good reason, but I wish the one where Mia films Vincent at their first meeting and asks him about Elvis and the Beatles. It is a pretty cool scene and would help explain her comment about how he'd love Jack Rabbit Slim's because he was an 'Elvis man'.

It's one of the few films I can watch over and over and still enjoy.

"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee. Is the only part of the Biblical quote that is an actual reference. The rest was made up by S L J and Q T. Oh and The woman who Marsellus shoots is the same bird Mr pink pulls out the car in Reservoir dogs.
