Getting fit...
As I approach the twilight of my life, I don't want my cat like agility to dwindle. Unfortunately I've had very little exercise in the last 9 months and playing TLW football on a Thursday has highlighted just how out of shape I am and it's a tad depressing. I've been running a few times this week and pushed it as hard as I can while doing squats and some time on the exercise bike.
To be fair my legs are in bits right now.
Anyway, I know some of you lads on here are well into training and exercising so I was hoping someone could recommend a schedule for me as to what would give me the most efficient workout considering I want to build up both strength and stamina but not gain any bulk. I wouldn't mind being toned, in fact I'd love it but I don't want to be any bigger.
I'm 5' 8 and weigh about 65 kilos right now which I'm happy with. I have time to work out right now though so I want to really put in the work I just don't know what the best routine would be for me.

Re: Getting fit...
Fuck getting into shape. Lie on the couch and watch DVDs while eating tubs of Ben and Jerry's. It'll make you far happier.
I can say this as I'm reasonably skinny and so don't know the pain of my flabbier brahs.

You DO realise that being 'fit' isn't about being slim, right? You can be woefully out of shape and be thin. You can be much more out of shape than a fat guy, oddly enough, but he just has a higher bodyfat percentage.

Jogging, rowing, cycling, sit ups, crunches, reverse sit ups, press ups, chin ups, commando chin ups, and variations on that theme. To get toned mostly just avoid the weights, or avoid any heavy ones.
I do crunches and press ups every day except Sundays. I am a fucking temple. Well, I would be if I didn't eat shit and drink so much.

I do know this, primarily because I am woefully out of shape. If it's not to improve your body shape, why do want to get fit then? A better life expectancy? More ease getting up the stairs?

Fair enough, as most of my hobbies involve sitting down I haven't yet encountered this problem.

How does doing chin up with no knickers on make you fitter than doing ones with knickers on???

Exercising releases growth hormones into your body which help you as you age.
Someone who works out will be less likely to have heart related problems as he ages...
Someone who works out will be less likely to have joint mobility problems as he ages...
I don't want to live forever but I don't want to be stuck in a fucking chair.

Does my name suggest I'm in the habit of bumming loads of hot chicks really hard?
Negged for failing to recognise the blindingly obvious.
