Online Poker

Anyone play? If so where?

I got into it as a lunch break thing but about a month ago won a tournament on betfair for a decent prize ($2200) so started taking it a bit more seriously now!

Re: Online Poker

Used to but had to stop because it took to long. Played at Pokerstars.com, a site I can recommend. It's probably the biggest around and as a result it has a large selection of various tournaments, sit and go, cash tables, etc. It's also reliable for pay outs. I won a few tournaments on it, the biggest one was with more than 2000 players. The biggest cash prize I won was a $10+1 re-buy with more than 600 players, got ca $6000 out of it if I remember it correctly.

The bad thing about it is if you want to get to the final table (and that should really be your main target) you have to make available some 6 hrs of playing time, which is more than I can these days....

Anyhooo.....pokerstars get my recomendation.

Re: Online Poker

I used to, but I've given up after losing a bit of money. It seems when I play online I'm more careless than when I play live and seem to concentrate less, so I only play in live tournaments now.

Where do you play live mate?

I've avoided it so far for fear of looking like a dick but I'm at a level were I'm finishing top half at least consistently now so wouldnt mind giving it a crack.

Re: Online Poker

I used to play in the Grosvenor by the Grafton until it got closed down so now the only place I really go is Leo's on the dock road. Only problem with that is the cheapest game they have is a 10 quid rebuy, and thats the only game I can really afford to play. (Even then its not the best game because you get the people with big bucks calling with shit hands because they can afford it and getting lucky.)

Theres a few more casinos around town, I know Stanley have a few games going but I've never been so I couldn't say what they're like. Theres also a new casino by the bus station, but I'm not sure if they have poker games on there. I know Rileys (bottom of Mount Pleasant) have the odd cheap game on, but I wouldn't play there - far too many amateurs so you will get idiots calling you when they shouldn't etc.

Your best bet is to just go down and have a look yourself, ask the receptionist about what games are on. If you find any cheapish games in any casinos I've not played at (which is any other than Leos) send me a pm and I'll come and play it with you!
