Ipod stuff.
I'm thinking that I'm tired of listening to the radio in my stupid Flintstones van, which only has a tape deck, and I'm considering getting an Ipod and some fancy gadgetry that plays it through the radio. I am looking at getting the Ipod classic with 80gb and the Itrip adaptor.
I am thinking I'm looking at about £150 and £20 notes respectively.
Am I buying rubbish or paying too much or does this sound like a good idea? Am I paying for the name with the Ipod?
I am also looking for a new handset and have decided to buy a K800i off a mate for £35 notes. Am I missing a trick with some fancy combined effort?
I understand that there is probably a thread about this somewhere already but I have too big an ego and too little time for that shit. Answer swiftly or further nerd cutbacks will have to be considered.
*I bet Remmie got some NASA shit for a tenner in a deal that closed last week*

Re: Ipod stuff.
I have an ipod nano. It's been great so far but I only use it at the gym
(minus two times when it was confusing me and I wanted to break it)

Aren't they really shit though Thants? Surely the radio signal thing has to be better since it was released two decades after; that's the way stuff works right?

Re: Ipod stuff.
So long as the speakers are good it's fine. The usual 'tape' quality of music was due to the tape, not the amplifier. Mine works great. You're basically just plugging your ipod into an amp (ish).
I listened to an itrip recently and if I found it irritating. Because most stations are local, the frequency you've chosen for your ipod seems to get interference in new areas. Really annoying if you're on a long journey.

Mr Thants speaks sense; go for the 20-year-old solution, it is far, far better and will lead to infinitely less frustration.

Re: Ipod stuff.
We use a car tape adaptor for my iPod. Sounds pretty decent even through the speakers of Mrs Jnp's 1970's ford escort.
Waste of money those radio thingy bobs. Car tape adaptors are the way forward....still.

Stupid and Flintstones van are words that should NEVER find themselves in the same sentence.

Re: Ipod stuff.
I use a tape adapter I got with a JVC personal CD player I bought in the US in 1998 with my ipod; works fine.

The tape deck all the way, Guitar based music struggles with these radio things, wired is always best

Re: Ipod stuff.
I'm ambivalent. Have used both, both seem fine. Plus, I have in the last hour taken delivery of a new 24inch imac 3Gig. This relegates my G5 onto the office floor as a fuckoff music and video server. Or it will when I get round to it. Hurrah!

Re: Ipod stuff.
Right, fair enough on the tape thingy but what about a combined phone/music player? Are there any bitching phones with at least 8gb memory that I should be looking at instead of a K800i and an Ipod for about £200 notes?
Surely you people who work with technology and stuff know about this? I'd look myself but I can do about ten minutes before getting bored. There's rep on offer for good suggesstions.
