I was in uni in Brum for four years, its changed quite a lot since I left in 2000, but I've been back a few times over the last few years for test matches.

Drinks and stuff head to Broad Street, although there are some newer good drinking/eating/shopping opportunities around the Mailbox, Mailbox Life

I concur that would be good, I didn't know they had one there. Its over in the Jewellery Quarter which is quite nice too, if you don't stray off the beaten track into Hockley.
