I've just recently got an iMac and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good torrent application and site that I should be using? I'm a little bit green when it comes to all this so any help at all would be appreciated.
I've done the obvious google search and I'm not really convinced by the options that I've seen (compared to the Windows programs) so I'd appreciate a bit of advice on the best ones to use, from and experienced Mac and torrent user.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks kindly... I saw that site yesterday and followed the recommendations without much joy. I think, coincidently, that my wireless router was being a twat for the day which didn't help. If your mate knows of a good one then that's perfect. Ta!

I use netgear. Its ace. I also use Bittorrent which I belive to work ok but I wouldnt know as I've never used torrents on those PC things.
As for torrent sites, its hit and miss.
Oh and I hope you dont regret leaving microsoft. I doubt you will.

As an alternative to using torrents, check out a good news server. Tend to be faster and more reliable.
i use tomato and have been for about 2 years now, never had a real problem with it. have you got the new imac.
Have a look at bootcamp which will allow you to also boot into pc mode also parraells which allows you to switch from pc and mac without having to re boot.
Yeah it's the new one, but I don't think I'm going to bother with the dual-booting malarkey. I'm actually having some joy with Tomato. It's simple. Like me.
Thanks for the help.

I asked my mac programming mate, and he uses Transmission, but if you have got Tomato working for you and Bri recommends it, then probably best to stick with that.
According to him though, there is a thing on transmission that sounds ace:
"there's also a cool-looking thing which I haven't tried, a browser-based control interface; you run transmission at home, open a port on your firewall, and then you can controll your at-home torrent client from the office, including starting new downloads and all"
