Barry Sheene/Bike racing fans

For any of you who grew up as a little lad watching Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts and thinking they were 2 of the acest people in the world like me when I was about 6, then tune into Sky channel 442 ESPN sports at 6pm....its Barry in 1979.

Re: Barry Sheene/Bike racing fans

Barry was a hero of mine, got to see him apparently at Oulton Park although I have no memory of it at all. My Dad used to tell me that he had a robitic leg which added to the coolness. Growing up my bike had a the number 7 with the line through it that my Dad had made for me, good times.

Re: Barry Sheene/Bike racing fans

Same as me bro, I had 7 on my bike when I was a little lad...King Kenny (Dalglish not Roberts) and Barry Sheene were my heroes.
My Dad, Gramps and Uncle were all really into Motorbike Racing so I was brought up on it.

It is mate, its a cracking read. He was always destined to live fast and die young, he was just that type of fella. Cool story about meeting him, he always seemed like an unassuming kind of fella in interviews and was very popular. I wanted to be Barry Sheene when I was a kid.

Re: Barry Sheene/Bike racing fans

Barry Sheene is a legend. I always had more respect for the road racers because it was far more balls to the wall than track racing. Joey Dunlop and David Jefferies are my motorcycling heros. Sheene is a stone cold legend though.
