Toughie. I've found a really good chippy, and we've no longer got the deep fat fryer. But I miss home-cooked chips.

I invested in one last week as I haven't had home-made chips since when I lived at my mum's (whilst my house was being built).
It makes awesome chips. I cut the potatoes as thick as possible, put them in boiling water for 5/10 mins, drain them, fry them at 160c for 10 mins and then 190c for 6 mins.

Good point, Stouff.
In the south they just don't get the gravy thing so finding a chippie which does good gravy is next to impossible so, with a heavy heart, i have to opt for curry |
