One for the nerds. Free firewalls
Any suggestions for a good firewall apart from ZoneAlarm?

Old theme, but with a twist. I like it.

I use the one built in XP. Works like a beaut. But then again my machine isn't full of shit trying to get out.

Im the same as the Captain. As long as you got anti-virus and some sort of spam filter (Windows Defender if you got legit windaz) then the built-in firewall is fine.

Re: One for the nerds. Free firewalls
Are you using a router*? If so there is a possibility that you already have a hardware firewall; this can usually work without any problems in conjunction with the XP firewall, and should be fine unless your PC is full up with dwarf porn.
*A machine to split the broadband connection up between several PCs as opposed to a machine to make pretty patterns on wood before anyone thinks they are funny.

It's incredibly overzealous and just loves to prevent anything accessing the Internet, even legit stuff. I know as many people who have had problems with it as haven't.

It's not for me. I have zone alarm and no problems. A friend has problems with hers. Not sure. She has windows 98. Does that have a built in one like XP?

Agnitum Outpost? One of the popular free ones, other than ZA, that'll work on 98.

Just train it like a dog. It learns fast.
I'd rather have Zone Alarm than Alonso's trojan!

Zonealarm is pretty poor; try Sygate.

Windows 98? A firewall doesn't sound like her biggest problem tbh.
