Just to add further nonsense in to this thread, couldnt it just be a fucked firefox install? i.e. maybe the file extensions have got themselves screwed (so the machine cant handle htm/html files), so just remove/re-install?

Sounds plausible as I had the problem before I upgraded to F2. Reinstall it is methinks
