All religions have their good points, all religions have things that don't make sense to those outside them, and may even contain things worthy of mockery by those from outside that religion.

The difference between Islam and other religions, in Britain especially, is, to put it simply and bluntly, that there are a large number of psychopathic cunts from within Islam who want to kill everyone, simply because they are not Muslims. They may be a minority, but they are a significant number. You also have a certain percentage of the Muslim population who have some sympathy for them.

You also have the problem that Islam considers itself to be a religion that must be expanded by actively seeking to convert others. Unlike Jews, Hindus or Sikhs, who don't seek converts, this puts Islam in opposition to all the values of those it seeks to wipe out by conversion, and put simply, in a free, liberal, secular democratic society, it opens itself up for inspection, and what is inspected, is, like many religions, fucking demented and backwards.

Religions that will flourish are those that discard the backward stupidity inherent in them and keep the good things. All religions have the good things, it's just a matter of filtering them out. When a religion pretends it has the Total Solution to Every Issue in the Universe, it doesn't have the humility to reform itself and filter out the stupidity, and so you end up with bigotry, hatred and ultimately, stupid cunts blowing themselves up in buses and trains.

When my sister was approached at University by a bunch of Muslims who wanted to brainwash her into converting to Islam, she said something very simple and very profound to them, after listening to them in order to comprehend the crap they came out with. This is paraphrased, but she said "Your house is on fire, it's a mess, it's decrepit and falling apart, the fire is spreading from your house to kill innocent people in neighbouring gardens, and you're trying to tell me I need to live inside your madhouse?"

May be harsh, but it's the truth. The reason people don't go on and on about other religions is because they at the moment are relatively more sensible, and don't act like the entire world should bow down before them. There is nothing special, superior, or unique about Islam. It's just another religion, on the same level as Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Rastafarianism, Sikhism, Paganism and people who believe in UFO's and the Elohim. Understand that, and things might start to change.

So whilst he may have expressed himself forcefully, I agree with the sentiments of the original poster. It's time for Muslims to stop being so self-pitying and narssicistic, and get their own house in order. Start off by addressing the extremism that uses Islamic texts to justify horror, and everything that flows from which has poisoned the atmosphere and peaceful tolerant secular public space in our society, and has poisoned inter-cultural relations in Britain in a way that the National Front at their heights couldn't have imagined ever doing.

By the way, I'm not anti-religion. I understand the human need for religion and I come from a religious family. I'm not religious myself, but I am spiritual, and I attend church a couple of times a year with my parents who insist I show my face, and in small doses, I actually enjoy it.

I've also travelled around the world and been moved by the manifestations of religions different from the one I was born into. But religion needs to be made benign and not belligerent. At the moment, in Britain at least, there is too much belligerence from a minority within Islam, and it's fucking things up for everybody. It fucks it up for moderate Muslims who don't want to play the part of perpetual whining and self-pitying victims, it fucks it up for white people who detest the sight of the BNP growing in backlash, it fucks it up for Hindus and Sikhs who suffer in that racist backlash by stupid racist morons, it fucks us all up because we're supposed to be a tolerant multiethnic nation and they spit in that whole concept.

Religion is always going to be here. So it's up to everyone to make sure they are tolerant, and no religion acts like a bully or full of belligerence.
