God knows how it all works Kurt. In the VIP league update I had someone finish the season with average form of 11 and go up a bar and someone who was average form 15 and form 14 didn't go up and starts this season with form and average form of 2....figure that one out.

Had 13 players improve 1 bar but those fringe players aged around 22 don't improve. Have sacked 2 and will bin another.

Sadly, I am genuinely excited at this time on a Monday morning now! I note with some alarm that Ezekiel has signed a striker over the weekend for three times the money that my club has ever had in the bank.

Can anyone tell me if there is any downside to picking an oppo player to closely mark?

Yes, the rest of the players will get more space to operate on, and there's always a chance that you pick out "the wrong player" (someone who isn't even on the pitch or a midfielder that isn't set as the opposite teams playmaker).
