Fish or chips?

I don't have it often, but when I do, I love it. However, what do you like best - the fish or the chips? Personally, I only ever want a few chips (nowhere near a full portion) but I could easily do in a couple of fish. As long as they're cooked fresh and served with loads of salt and vinegar (plus plenty of Tommy K), you can't beat chippy fish.

I tend to agree,I`m not a big chip fan but a fair handful of chippy chips with a generous sprinkling of vinegar hits the spot.To answer the question I prefer the fish but couldnt eat more than one as I find the batter a bit sickly after a while.

Re: Fish or chips?

You can get chips with any thing these days but a truly great battered piece of fish is a rare commodity in this modern day.

Re: Fish or chips?

I picked chips because they're essential. I couldn't have just fish, but I could have just chips. To eat fish alone would be wrong.

One of the best times to eat chips is on a freezing cold winters day out in the open.

No one has mentioned the mystery that is the sausage in batter.

Gotta go with chips and me chip butty.

Chippies round here have pretty dreadful fish so I've gone off the newspaper-wrapped dish.

Re: Fish or chips?

Chips. And in modern Britain the fish has been eclipsed as the true chip accompaniment of choice by the fried rice and curry combo. Half rice, Half Chips and spicy curry, it's the 2005 thing.

I prefer just a simple chips and gravy on the way home from the match, but only if it's an evening kick-off. I don't know why really; it just seems right.

Re: Fish or chips?

A hazy amsteram smoke lead me to the wonders of fish and chips with Tommy K, salt vinegar AND MaYo.

Very strange. I felt like one a multi million pound goal scoring midfielder with Will Young and a mates phoneon vibrate....... Drugs eh .....

Re: Fish or chips?

Chips. Big fat moist chippy chips.

Never eaten fish cos I'm a vegetarian.

Even if I wasn't a veggie I wouldn't eat chip shop fish cos I don't agree with the overfishing of cod etc.

Re: Fish or chips?

It was heaven last year just before the Juve tie eating fish and chips and getting all the matchday atmosphere.

Fish. Love it.
