Patties are a perfect snack. I love them. Are you a Hull lad then? I went to University there and ended up living in the area for 5 years in all.

Yeah I am, moved to uni in Lincoln a few years ago. Glad someone else appreciates the patty. If I ever go to Hull with anyone from here I take them to the chippy and everyone of them so far has declared there love for the godly potato cake jobby.
Where abouts where you?

Cottingham first in the Lawns, the university halls. Then just off Beverley Road, just over from the Turnpike on the corner of Cott Road. Then finally in Beverley, right in the centre. That was lovely there.

And I was merely pointing out that you should not, as a proper man, be able to translate that meal. Now, shall I go to the chippy for dinner and order a large chips and gravy? With extra gravy?

Cool, I live (well my folks) live on the border with Cottingham on Bricknell Avenue. I know Cottingham very well, especially Hallgate Tavern. The Turnpike used to be our favourite place to watch the football but has now been knocked down to make way for a Lidl. Shocking.

Re: Fish or chips?
How could this thread have gone for so long without someone mentioning Dandelion and Burdock????
(hmm spelling a bit ropey there)
Forget the fish.. get the hotest heart clotting chips you can find.. then make the grease solidify on the roof of your mouth with a good slug of D&B.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

You are joking. That was a great place. Had the comedy club there. We used to go to the King William in Cottingham. They did an ace yorkshire pudding with sausages and onion gravy.

They haven't heard about it in the south of England either - lots of idiot peasants down here. Sometimes you just have to pity them in their ignorance

Yeah, stupid cockneys with their "There's grivy in the poie" used to annoy the fuck out of me when I was a young pup expecting a proper pie dinner like up here.
As for fish and chips, I always drive an extra couple of miles into Cronton just to have a fish from the Cronton fish bar, fucking lovely it is with batter that melts in the mouth. My mouth's watering at the thought, that's tonight's tea sorted then.
