Fully agree and I may expected to be be the last one expected to say that. Its one thing writing tongue in cheek articles about them but this was a calculated act of vandalism. It cant even have been said to have been instinctive, such as if someone had draped a red scarf round it. Whoevers done it has tok the trouble to go to B and Q to buy the red paint, or has very bad decorating tastes in their house. Its a good job the shankly statue is behind locked gates, but the Pasiley gateway or Hillsborough memorial could be a target.

Our Clubs fame and reputation was built on the honesty and desire of its team and the wit and fairmindedness of its supporters.
This was not the act of a fan of LFC even if in his sick and deluded mind he thinks he is.
Let us hope everyone can rise above it.

I think a "proxy apology" is not a bad thing. It shows that true supporters of Liverpool football club do not tolerate this sort of thing. It puts distance between the real supporters and the idiots that did it. Anyone who condones it is as bad as the person who did it.

The only thing this serves to do is to possibly wind up a similar small minded Everton fan, and hey presto something loved by Liverpool Football club is vandalised or destroyed.

To say all Everton fans call Liverpool fans murderers is unfair to them too. Anyone with an ounce of sense knows that the perpurtrators of football hooliganism are not fans of football. They tarnish the names of the clubs they infest......and anyone who brings up the Hillsborough tragedy as an attempt to score cheap points is not even a human being in my opinion.

Echo the sentiments - whoever did this is no Red. Do not do unto others...
