it's disappointing but you can't really condemn him for it or are you suggesting we should have let him go on a free? :/ i'd rather have him here and give him time to get over the injuries, he's damn good
I'm not condemning him for anything, i'm merely voicing my concerns that he's a sicknote, nothing more nothing less. Do i rate him as a player? Yes, Would i have given him a new contract? Probably. Have i got very serious concerns about his fitness? Most definitely.

FUCK OFFFFFFFFFF
He's officially stuffed forever, as soon as he gets fit it's another fucking thing.
It's so annoying because he could bring so much to the team which none of the other centre backs can.
or 79 in 3 1/2 seasons. Unless you were only talking about league matches... Then you were pretty much spot on.
Either way it's about half of the games we played. For somebody supposedly demanding £80,000-a-week that's a joke. It would probably be cheaper to pay him £150,000 per game.
Regardless of his fitness issues (and I think they're significant and long-standing), giving him a new deal was undoubtedly a good idea as we'll be able to cash in on him rather than wath him do a Bosman/Webster to Italy. What would be good though would be if they could rebuild him and get him playing. I'm not holding my breath, though.

What is so annoying about this is that last season showed that Agger is the kind of player who clearly needs a long run of games to get anywhere near back to match sharpness - so, another injury threatens to disrupt his entire season again. I said last summer we should have cashed in whilst good money was on the table from Milan, and i stand by that - the lad is made of swarowski crystal.
No doubt too he'll come out moaning when he's finally fit about not being played...
I think we should sign another defender next summer. Someone who will be good enough to challenge for a starting part.
Agger just can't be relied upon.
Don't you think it would be smarter to wait and see how this season pans out before making that decision?

I think we'll need one regardless of Agger's fitness. I think we need 4 quality CBs and unless Kyriagos is quality, and not just a stop gap, we need another one.
I know yeah, how we could do with the big Finn back.

BENITEZ PLAYS DOWN AGGER FEARS
Jimmy Rice 21 August 2009
Rafa Benitez is hopeful of having Daniel Agger available within 'a few weeks' despite the Danish international requiring back surgery.
The 24-year-old missed much of pre-season with a recurring back complaint and will now undergo an operation.
Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Yes, he saw a specialist and maybe he will need an operation.
"I don't think it will be long. If everything goes well it won't take too much time, maybe a few weeks."
Meanwhile, Benitez will make a late decision on the fitness of Martin Skrtel ahead of Monday's match with Aston Villa.
The Slovakian is still recovering from a clash of heads with Jamie Carragher against Tottenham Hotspur.
"He's training. We had to decide the other day but it was too soon to take any risks. Okay, we'll see on Monday," said the boss.
One player who will be fit despite requiring stitches to his eyebrow after a collision in the 4-0 win over Stoke is Fernando Torres.
"He has some stitches but he's okay," said Benitez. "He's training with his teammates and I think he'll be okay for Monday."
It's a shame that he's out because he could well have been the answer to the question everyone is asking about Lucas and Mascherano having to drop deep to distribute the ball. If Agger plays then they can stay further up the pitch and he can do the job of starting distribution from that area.
Against pretty much any team that come to get a draw he'd be one of the first names down, for me.
