He just signed a new contract and I know your contact so this scares me a lot... Downing is utter shite.

Downing is unfairly lambasted. He looked an excellent prospect when he first came into the Middlesbrough 1st team and was touted as a potential long-term replacement for Ryan Giggs at Man United. His career then went stagnate but in the last 18 months his performances have improved considerably, as his added ore to his game and has become more consistent, scoring 9 league goals last season in a poor Boro team. He is a very good crosser of the ball and has started to become more of a goal threat as well.

Proper winger? He can't beat his man, doesn't have much pace and woudn't scare the top defenders. I guess this summer will be about buying mediocre home grown lads... let it be!
