Hard to know how to feel about this at the moment, seeing as we don't know who he'll replace in the squad. So, I'll just say I think Barry is a good player, he'd a marked improvement on Lucas but he's not fit to lace Xabi's boots.

He's a good player who will offer us quality back up for the 3 central midfielders Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano. The 4 of them combined will get enough games so no one will complain. Good signing if true. I hope it doesn't mean Alonso is leaving though.

Not till the end of the season, thats why Barry got put in the 18m bracket last year. It upset the apple cart.
I'd be pleased with this deal if Xabi stays, but one out of Mascherano, Alonso and Lucas will be off in the summer, and I just hope it's Lucas.
Will give us some balance in the middle, and would be a good option in the home games alongside Xabi, against teams who will park the bus.

What a great way to start the summer IF THIS IS TRUE, signing a player we clearly don't need. Rafa moans about money whenever he gets a chance, if he stopped buying players we don't need and not any better than what we already have then he might have the money to buy the wingers he needs.
