We Were sitting in the pub on Saturday night and we were talking about various things to do with the club when someone piped up with the idea that he thought we'd hit rock bottom when we brought him back, and showed how skint we were. He thought it was a disgrace that we brought him back.
My own thoughts on it were that we showed we were a family club, (they weren't the exact words I used, but you get my meaning) we got him for nothing, it made the vast majority of fans happy, in some cases ecstatic, and it made the players happy, and there was another older Scouse influence in the changing room. It was a no lose situation for us, he cost us nowt, and if he flopped, meh. But if he was a success, fantastic!
So I'd genuinely lie to know how other Reds felt about signing him back. And for once, could we not turn this thread into yet another tiresome slagging fest?
Fowler is God and will always will be God. His signing gave Rafa some Kudos with the fans and he did score a few goals. A good signing in my opinon regardless of it being a free and Fowler being past his best.
When people ask me what striker do you want Liverpool to sign i always say a 20 year old Robbie Fowler.
I forgot to add that we got to say goodbye, Ta for reminding me RK.
I was shocked to hear someone saying that about bringing him back, I thought we were all 100% behind that move, hence the poll.
We did get to say goodbye but being denied a chance to do it in full view, with a mosiac on the Kop, in favour of the fool Moores, is something that'll always grate.
That Charlton game:-
It pissed down with rain.
We had that shite goalkeeper who let in two dodgy goals
The Athens ticket fiasco hung over everyone
Robbie got subbed, only for us to be awarded a penalty minutes later
That stupid David Moores wankathon sponsored by RAOTL and RTK

Great move, one of my finest memories of watching football is being in a bar in Barcelona to see him make his return against Birmingham. I had a whole bar cheering with me.

For a start, we were skint when we brought him back, there's no getting away from it and no amount of wishing was going to change that fact. Given that, we had a choice of bringing Robbie home or presumably spending about £500k on either a kid from abroad from the strictly average end of the market, or possibly a journeyman pro from League One.
The second two of those three options would to my way of thinking include far more "shame" for a club such as ours than bringing back a player who's one of the most naturally gifted strikers I've ever seen and a true hero to most of us.
OK, there's a small chance that if we'd spent the money on an unknown and unheralded youngster, we might just have unearthed the next Robbie, but it was a very small chance indeed.
I've realised as I'm typing this that I simply can't be objective and impartial where Robbie is concerned but I guess that's the point really, there's no reason why I should be objective - he's Robbie Fowler.

If we'd had a 20 year old Fowler playing with Torres last season, we'd be chasing number 20 this time round, not 19.

As much as I love Fowler, I think that's a tiny bit much.
One name that immediately pops up that could take that real title is Romario i think.
I loved his partnership with Bebeto at the '94 world cup.
On May 20, 2007, Romário scored his 1000th goal, a penalty kick against Sport Recife, playing for Vasco da Gama. He claims he is the second player in professional football history to achieve this, after Pelé in 1969. [2] The 1000th goal drew much attention from both Brazilian and international press, with the game being stopped for over 20 minutes to allow for celebrations from his fans. [3][4][5][6] There is some controversy over the validity of the 1000 goals as it claim is somewhat inaccurate, because Romário's research team counted his goals in junior, friendly and non-official games. [7][8]
FIFA congratulated Romário on his milestone goal [9] but stated he is still officially on 929 goals, as 77 came in youth football, with others being scored in friendly matches. [10]
In 2008 Romário released a DVD with the best goals of his career totalizing 900 goals in the disc. [11]
I'm one of the very few reds who have very little time for Fowler. Having said that I believe his signing directly yielded 15 points on account of goals he scored. Twas a decent move and brought the feel-good factor back to the club.
it was a great move to bring him back , it raised the noise levels higher when he was warming up , and he didnt do all too bad when he did play . he would still do a job for us now , id take him back in a shot . wat a lift for to bring him in for the last fifteen minutes in the games we have drew at home this season . how many points would we be clear by now .....?
I was so made up that friday. Got proper pissed as well, if I recall correctly. Worth it alone for that surreal feeling of joy.

It was a brilliant move, it payed off two, i was gutted when that goal was disallowed against Birmingham. He was my childhood hero and he signed back on my 14th birthday. Great day that was!
