What makes you think that? Having got rid of Crouch precisely because he wasn't wholly compatible with our playing style (if we have one), why would he then go out and get someone like John Carew, who is slow and injury prone?

Because he also tried to get Heskey in the summer who is slow and injury prone. John Carew scores a lot more goals than Heskey though, and is arguably a better target man.
