But to be fair, he was at the Champions (who wanted him to stay) and he was it was a race to get his signature. Last I heard, Dortmund were pretty pleased to be getting rid of Degen.

and had excellent pedigree. Just like Mcallister. Can't say the same for Voronin or Degen sadly.
Chelsea signed two players for the same amount, both play similar positons. One called Ballack the other called Sidwell. Who would you prefer?

Why don't you wait until he's kicked a ball for us?

I will. But I personally don't hold a great deal of hope. I'm not saying he;s shit, neithr am i saying he;s great either. If he turns out to be very good the i'll be delighted, if he turns out to be average (FWIW i doubt he'll be shit) then I won't be suprised.
What I had hoped for th summer was a first choice regualr right back. Someone that would stand up and make that psotion be their own. Maybe Degen or Arbeloa will. Lets hope eh.
Unforutnately i won't really be able to judge next season as i've called it a day for now. Hopefully that'l mean we win the league since i feel like a jinx

Re: Is Degan injured or just not good enough?
Degan told Swiss sports daily, Le Sfere, that he wasn't prepared to take a risk: "I've been given a wonderful opportunity by Liverpool and risking my fitness is not an option I wish to take. The coach knows this and will save me until later in the tournament if I am not ready. Liverpool must come first"
I made that up.

I've not read anything like that other than speculation, the type of post that Rashid makes up. Not saying they aren't pleased but I've not seen anything concrete.
RE: George C, Ballack's wages are huge, probably higher than what we pay Gerrard.

Ballack is on 121,000 a week (after tax) and god knows what his signing on fee was. This was not a standard free transfer.

Re: Is Degan injured or just not good enough?
Carragher at RB next would be a damning indictment of Rafa's time here. etc etc etc etc Quality over quantity.
Just saved you some time Rashid. You're welcome.

Re: Is Degan injured or just not good enough?
Here's a novel idea - how about we wait and see how he does for us before deciding he's shit and slating Rafa by extension. That too much to ask?

Re: Is Degan injured or just not good enough?
Maybe things should be looked at in a bit of context. Degen is not the best player in the world but he is international standard (decent player with experience) who we have signed for free.
If the bigger picture is that Rafa plans to play Carra right back next year and we ship Finnan out for £2m then we have not effected the 1st team, signed a good back up player and made £2m on the deal.
What should Rafa have done? Signed Alves for £30m for 1st choice or spent £8 on a player who will be a reserve for Carra or signed an International and made a couple of million into the bargain?
