Pre-Season

Anybody any idea where and when our pre-season games are? Have we got a game against Rangers in Ibrox confirmed?

Re: Pre-Season

We have arranged a friendly with Villareal (arranged under the Pepe deal). It's earmarked for around late July.

The rumour on the train back from Spurs at the weekend was Madrid. Only a rumour so don't hold me to that, just saying what I heard.

I'm in Madrid over the summer so fingers crossed! Although it will probably be in Switzerland or something.

Re: Pre-Season

Liverpool will travel to Spain to take on Villarreal as part of their preparations for next season.

The fixture has been arranged under the terms of the deal that saw Pepe Reina move from El Madrigal to Anfield in the summer of 2005.

Although final details have not yet been confirmed, the game is expected to take place in the final week of July with Wednesday, July 30 indicated as a possible date.

Rafael Benitez has already revealed Liverpool will once again visit Switzerland for a pre-season camp with friendlies expected to be arranged during their spell abroad.

However, it is not thought the Anfield outfit will embark on any major pre-season tours, such as their week-long trip to Hong Kong last year to take part in the Barclays Asia Trophy.

Must be a friendly for Gary Ablett's reserve team. I don't think they'll send the first team to play against Stockport.

Norwegian team Viking from Stavanger hopes to set up a friendly game against Liverpool as both cities are European Capitals of Culture this year.

And we will most certainly play against Wrexham.

It'll be like crewe or wrexham, half reserves, half first team squad, lots of substitutions and no-one from the euro's playing. Still its a day out in the summer and its only an hour on the train.

Liverpool Legends with players like Ian Rush, John Barnes, Bruce Grobbelaar, Ronnie Whelan, Phil Neal, Jason McAteer and Alan Kennedy will be playing a Viking "legends" side with former Premiership players like Egil Østenstad, Gunnar Halle, Trond Egil Soltvedt, Roger Nilsen and Viking's current coach Uwe Rösler. All proceeds are going to charities.

Liverpool Legends are also taking their traditional trip to the Fotball Flora festival in Florø 11th-12th July where these players have been confirmed: Bruce Grobbelaar, David Johnsen, Ronnie Whelan, John Durnin, Michael Thomas, Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Alan Kennedy, David Fairclough, Bob Bolder, Phil Neal, Mark Walters, Steve McManaman, Roy Evans, Gary Gillespie, Paul Walsh, Mike Marsh, John Wark, Jason McAteer, Nigel Spackman, Rob Jones, Nicky Tanner, Jim Beglin, Jimmy Case, Howard Gayle, John Aldridge. This will be covered by LFCTV btw.

It will only be the reserve team against Stockport as the first team play Rangers at Ibrox the same day. They'll also play Peterborough the 19th of July.

I've also heard that Liverpool reserves will play Manchester United reserves in the final of Lancashire Senior Cup sometime during pre-season.

A one man team that is?

Btw, yesterday liverpool.no reported the first team might play a game in Norway early in August.

None of this has been confirmed, though.
