The 12 contenders are:

Steven Gerrard v Aston Villa - Villa Park, August 11.

Andriy Voronin v Toulouse – Stadium Municipal, August 15.

Fernando Torres v Chelsea – Anfield, August 19.

Ryan Babel v Derby County - Anfield, September 1.

Yossi Benayoun v Reading - Madejski, September 25.

Nabil El Zhar v Cardiff City - Anfield, October 31.

Fernando Torres v Fulham - Anfield, November 10.

Steven Gerrard v Newcastle – St James' Park, November 24.

Fernando Torres v Marseille – Stade Velodrome, December 11.

Fernando Torres v Derby County - Pride Park, December 26.

Fabio Aurelio v Bolton - Reebok Stadium, March 2.

From that list, has to be Torres v Marseille for me.

I loved Babel v Derby when he dummied two defenders and did the keeper with his eyes, but Torres v Marseille was just pure genius.

Honourable shout for Yossi v Reading and Stevie freekicks v Villa and the Barcodes too.

Would have to go for Babel v Derby; massive amounts of composure, quick thinking and an ace strike.

Torres v Marseille... the amount of pressure and the composure needed to create and then score... brilliant.

I loved Babel's goal, but for me the Marseille one from Torres is just genius. Speed and skill and aceness all in a sexy package.

Torres v Newcastle for me. Pefect ball from Gerrard and give the keeper 'a Pele'. Torres v Marseille 2nd and Gerrard v Newcastle 3rd.

That video's just made me think, where the fuck's El Zhar now? Shouldn't he have been in contention for a game yesterday?

Gerrards free kick against Newcastle. The best goals are when Gerrard just twats the ball like that!

gerrard's free kick at villa was on of the best free kicks i've ever seen. it was placed on a postage stamp.

torres vs marseille was different class though.

Torres made them all look very easy.

My favourite is Torres v Fulham. Who the hell else can control a long ball like that with his chest? Absolutely world class.

Agree. I saw that and thought no way should the free kick have been in there ahead of Babel's goal.

Babel Vs. Derby.

The class of that goal was just a cut above, and if he could show a bit more of that creativity and composure next season we'll put many more teams to the sword.

To be honest you could compile a top 12 of Torres' goals and still leave out some crackers.

Torres against Marseille is different class though.
