I hope this isn't bitterness but I've seen little improvement in him and he hasn't developed into the player I feared he would when he was at Everton.

Completely agree.
He looked like becoming Henry with a gut at one stage, now he rarely pops his head above the trenches in big games and is more of a talented bruiser than a supreme destructive force like Torres.

I agree that Gerrard is excellent for us and as i've said he's a top player but i think people actually underrate Rooney, the game at Old trafford he was destroying Carra and Skrytel before the first goal and there's not many that can do that to our defence. His running off the ball and power is on a different level to most and i've already said that the lad is only 23 which is scary to me.
I really hope he doesn't develop anymore but i just can't see it happening, Believe me i think Gerrard is excellent but i think Rooney just has more about him .

If you took Gerrard out of our side and replaced him with Rooney we would be a lesser team. What abilities does Rooney have to a greater extent than Gerrard? (I'm not saying he doesn't, I just want to hear your reasoning).

Its just an opinion, and Gerrard has given this club some wonderful memories over the years with hopefully more to come but surely we have to agree there is a lack of his presence against the top teams in the league, I probably have to backtrack and say Gerrard is better because he has the trackrecord behind him but i think Rooney has everything in him to be world class.

The spines of the teams are of a fairly similar standard (though we should not underestimate their excellent defence) but they are much better from out wide. Ronaldo, and to a much lesser extent Evra, in our side, and it tilts our way.
