Same Old Shit

For the past fifteen years.

Liverpool start well, tail off, finish fourth.

A London club looks like breaking the Mancs chokehold on the premiership, but falters and ultimately takes a step backwards.

EVERYTHING goes tha mancs way, decisions, injuries, luck, and they win another title and spend loads more money in the summer.

Fucking groundhog day this shit, and NOTHING will change until Taggart either retires or dies - that there's ths sad fucking truth.

Re: Same Old Shit

I wonder sometimes if it would do us good if the Mancs actually did overtake our title haul. Most of us live in fear of it happening and maybe if it did, then we would have a significant amount of pressure taken off us. It could work the other way and us being behind them could also add pressure. Either way, they may have had luck, their rise may have coincided with huge amounts of money being pumped into the game and they may influence refs but we let our own standards fall and that's why we are where we are.

It's depressing. Especially when you can see that they're really not that much better in terms of personnel. We are only a couple of players short, if that.

We've "only been a couple of players short" for years though, Ian. That's been part of the problem as you probably know mate.

You're right mate, it's so fucking annoying.

I just feel we should have done better with the players we have.

Re: Same Old Shit

It is not JUST about being a couple of players short. It is a culmination of things. We have been 'a couple of players short' since 19 o splash. It comes down to the mentality of the managers as well. After all did the mancs drop points at home v Wigan (1 up front at home and an unbelieveably negative performance), Birmingham, Spurs, Villa and if I hear 'the ownership situation affected our season' one more time I think I will scream.

Re: Same Old Shit

Yeah sometimes we haven't gone for teams when we should have. Our home form under Rafa has been very good for three years then we finally get some decent away form and our form suffers. There's a balance there somewhere but Rafa has been unable to find it.

Re: Same Old Shit

The one thing Fergusson seems able to do which the others don't, is maintain the loyalty of his players through thick and thin.

Even after the Arse won their first double the likes of Anelka, Overmars and Petit were looking to fuck off sharpish. They had no interest in building a dynesty, they wanted a payday.

Same goes for this Chelsea shower, Drogba will be off in the summer no doubt.

The Mancs however, have only ever lost top players on Fergusson's terms, he can maintain a team and hold it together as long as he wants to, nobody else can.

Johns right and at one point I was fuming with the way the season was going but I think he deserves another season after all the bollocks.

Come Christmas and IF we are out of it again I think a lot of people will wash their hands.

Cheer up.

I am actually quite optimistic about the next season. In just over a year Rafa has bought Torres, Mascherano, Babel, Skrtel and Benayoun, WAY better transfer dealings than the previous seasons. In the next season the new players will have learnt a lot and the whole squad know each other better.

Something also tells me that Rafa is beginning to get the grip about the premiership. He also seem rather relaxed about the current situation and transfer speculations, which make me think that he has been promised a decent transfer budget and is confident about bringing in the right players.

You can buy all the players you want, but when your rivals have the refs in the pockets as it seems, you cant do nothing....

Fuck this ref crap, its a losers excuse.
We're sounding more and more evertonian every day.

As a previous poster says, you make your own luck. Until we learn to play the mancs and not fear them we'll always drop points against them.

In the League we have no killer instinct.

Re: Same Old Shit

All's i know is that i'm sick to the back teath of seeing them win the title over and over and over again, i honestly don't think i can stand it anymore, especially when we're nowhere to be seen and are trotting out the same shitty excuses on an annual basis, i'm not a very good loser, think i'll concentrate solely on Cricket from now.

Re: Same Old Shit

i choose to be optimistic. i think we all agree that we have done quite well this season considering the havoc our club is in. i hate seeing the mancs win it as much as anyone, but shitty excuses and blaming refs won't help us. let's keep our heads up and fucking do them next year.
