As I said let us see. We are being linked with a lot but let us see who we end up with.
Things change and as yet we have signed no one.
That was only thanks to an extra loan though wasn't it to fund the deals for Babel & Nando otherwise it probably was going to be Forlan or Milito.

Have to agree with rashid here. Unless we're going to add genuine quality to our first team we don't have a hope in catching United or Chelsea. So i'd rather spend nothing and consolidate what we have this summer and go all out the summer after (when we might be more clearer on the whole ownership saga)

Re: Is there logic in signing noone this summer?

Paper talk or not, it's a good debate. I'd rather keep the same guys together and look for improvements in efficiency and spirit rather than get more fringe players in. This is where the club should refuse to sanction the purchase of squad players but promise to release the saved up money when a top class player comes on the market.

Re: Is there logic in signing noone this summer?

I think we need both, we can't have a squad full of world class talent, similarly we can't have a squad full of fringe players. We need to replace a couple of our fringe players in key positions with talent, such as on the wings, and then we need to sign a few squad players who won't mind not playing every game as understudy for the key players (in case the reserve players can't do this job)

Re: Is there logic in signing noone this summer?

We need top quality players who can play in several positions. If we signed a top quality right sided forward to take Kuyt's place in the team and that player could also play as a lone striker then we could sell Crouch and Voronin and not have to worry about replacing them with another squad player.

Re: Is there logic in signing noone this summer?

Pointless thread but we should only buy players/player to go straight in.

Promote from with in and with the money from the deadwood spew it all on one player.
