No need for that, you are getting as bad as the rest lately. Give it a rest.

Re: A tribute to Rui Costa

Class player, every bit a good as Figo. The only downside to his game is that he didn't score enough goals. The move to Milan ruined him IMO. Costa and Batigol are legends at Fiorentina.

Agree Rash that he was one of my favourite players to watch.

If anything he is underrated... part of Portugals underachieving golden generation.

I agree about his goals.. even with an open goal he used to choose to pass to someone else to walk into the net. He so amazing to watch, as he had so much time on the ball and could go past players even though he wasn't blessed with huge pace.

Terrific player. What a difference a player like that would make to our team.

Re: A tribute to Rui Costa

You don't need pace to be a great player. Its a myth. You don't also need to do stepovers etc to beat a player either. Zidane and to a lesser extent Costa made the game of football look easy and easy on the eye. Pass and move. IMO Kaka is the only 'graceful' player around at the moment - smight sound a bit gay but what they do on the pitch looks effortless. Its something that I personally really admire.

Re: A tribute to Rui Costa

I think you can add Messi to that list George. I love players with elegance.. it is not about step overs although people associate that shite with me. If we had a Costs as out number 10 we would be champions.

Speaking of which can anyone remeber those two cheat players at Cambridge? came up in another druken footy pub discussion and I can't for the life of me remember what they were called. They were the creators or something and put themselves in there for a laugh

That's cos you know fuck all about football... I have a good mind to pull up all your posts about various players and then compare it with your views on Costa.

There's an element of truth in that. I think he played for Fiorentina for too long and should have won something with Portugal. Nevertheless, he earned almost 100 caps and picked up Serie A and Champions League medals... while playing some fantastic football, in my view.
