Keita open to Prem switch

Sky Sports | Football | Premier League | News | Keita open to Prem switch

Sevilla ace Seydou Keita has confirmed one of the 'big four' teams in England have enquired about his services.

The Mali international in only in his first season with the Liga outfit following a £2.7million switch from French outfit Lens last summer.

However, his exploits have not gone unnoticed with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham all credited with an interest in the 28-year-old.

Keita has now confirmed one of England's giants have enquired about his services and should a fee be agreed he would be interested in a move to the Premier League.

Enquiry

"I've had an enquiry from a big four team in England, however, I am happy to stay at Sevilla," Keita told skysports.com.

"But you never know. If an offer is accepting by my club I might leave.

"It is a dream to play in the Premier League. La Liga is also a quality league. To play in both leagues would be very good.

"However, I am happy where I am."

Re: Keita open to Prem switch

As I said in the other thread, when I hear the words 'Mali' and 'defensive midfielder' I get quite concerned.....for every Michael Essien, there have been a field full of African Donkeys that have 'graced' the Premiership and for me, African midfielders are the kind of signings that Charlton and Birmingham make, not us.
I must admit that I really haven't noticed him much when I've seen Seville play, but having seen such luminaries as Traore, Sissoko, Diao and Diouf do their thing for us, I'd rather us sign actual footballers rather than fellas who get paid for putting a football shirt on.

I think we could do with a few more holding midfielders.

Good player, he forms a good partnership with Poulsen in Sevilla. I take it Arsenal are probably interested.

Re: Keita open to Prem switch

iverpool have not approached Sevilla midfielder Seydou Keita, agent Pascal Boisseau exclusively told setantasports.com.

Rafa Benitez is looking for a central midfielder, with Aston Villa star Gareth Barry in pole position, and the African talent has been rumoured to be a target for the Anfield outfit.

Mali international Keita has been fantastic for the Andalucian side since he moved from Lens last summer.

When asked if Liverpool had contacted him about Keita, Boisseau told setantasports.com: “It’s absolutely rubbish.

“The player is happy at Sevilla, focused on helping them to try and qualify for the Champions League.

“We will discuss with Sevilla when the season is over.”

Liverpool chief scout Eduardo Macia also slammed reports from the Spanish press saying the former Lens captain is on his way to Merseyside.

“Keita is not our objective because we are working now on a list of three players for this position, but he is not part of it,” Macia told Spanish reporters.

“I mean that he is a tremendous player, but he is not part of our plans.”

Re: Keita open to Prem switch

Thought so.

Annoyed at the central midfield transfer focus though.
Seems like Rafa's stickin with 2 defensive midfielders behind Gerrard next season, probably Barry & Masch.
Decent option but the goals will dry up at some point.

Providing we can sign a player who can score 12-15+ league goals a season & providing Babel continues to progress, and Gerrard and Torres maintain their excellent partnership we will be fine.

Re: Keita open to Prem switch

Weve also been linked with stephane mbia from rennes, cameroonian midfielder who can also play right back. Ive seen very little of him but he looks a cracking talent, like a smaller essien.
