Goal difference without a doubt.

That's just Grant clutching at straws.

Should deffo be a play off. You shouldnt have a championship decided by goal difference or even goal average because one side could have had a freak result.

Deciding a title on one game is a joke, anyone can win on the day and a league should be won because of how you've played throughout the season, not won because the other goalie woke up that day with a bad arse.
What he said.

Well surely using points is flawed then as one team might have a freak result gifting them 3 points?

The ball doesn't just fly in the net of its own accord so if you put it there nine times against Derby and your opponent only manages two then you are displaying your ability.

You could have a team missing it's three best players for the play-off therefore making a mockery of a whole season of work.

38 games. Do what you will with them and so will everyone else.

Re: Goal difference or play off?

People who are going on about it being "deciding the title on one game" are talking gash... these two teams will be level on points after a full season... it's nothing like the play offs.

Re: Goal difference or play off?

I despair. How is it nothing like the play-offs? Where teams play for 38 games and then it goes down to a sudden-death situation all of its own?

The system is fine, it doesn't need fucking with.

Plus you'd also have play-offs all the way down the table for positions yeah? And presumable play-offs to get into the play-offs if 6th and 7th are on the same points?

I like it how it is Stu and wouldn't change it.. but i jus wanted to that this scenario is different from the play offs. In the play offs a team 20 points behind can still get promoted ahead of the team 20 points ahead... in this scenario they have to be level on points.

As for play-offs down the table, no chance. It would shambolic.

Let's just have a knock out competition instead of the league; we'd deffo be in with a shot at that bad boy.

Goal average. And back to 2 points for a win.

Either that or decide it on least yellow cards for diving and dissent.

OK. Back to goal average then. We used to win the league regularly when it was goal average.

Re: Goal difference or play off?

play offs are for losers, ask any winner of a league if they would like to gamble their win for 'a win'

It wouldn't surprise me if the premiership didn't introduce a play off system, they've bastardised football in almost every way so why not stamp on the already rotting corpse of football and introduce this.

play offs are for losers.

Re: Goal difference or play off?

Thought this thread was going to be about the promotion play-offs which I think are shite and completely unrewarding for a seasons work. You finish 3rd, you should get promoted. Simple.

How can a team who might finish 6th in the Championship be allowed in to the Premiership? It's fucking styoopid.

As for Paul's Q; it should stay as it is. Anything else is just Americanis(z)ed fanfare shite.

Re: Goal difference or play off?

I went goal difference. I would like to be able to bend the rules for occasions like today but deep down there is no need to change something that is right.
