Berberov to Anfield??
According to this article - it came agonisingly close in 2005 (not sure if this has been posted yet, apologies uf so). Torres and Berbetov, now that would be frightening! We ended up with Morientes instead.

It was in the football echo a while ago, it sai we were going to sign him in Jan 2005 but then we go Leverkusen in the Champions League and they pulled the deal. We signed Nando instead and give them a good hideing over 2 legs. He even missed a sitter in the 1st leg!!!

That's the one thing that keeps coming up with Berbatov.
He's obviously a quality player but he tends to pick his games and can go missing a lot
