Michael Owen is facing a £2m pay cut as Keegan and Ashley strike a fragile truce at Newcastle | the Daily Mail

Michael Owen could be the big loser at Newcastle with a £40,000-a-week pay cut as owner Mike Ashley last night struck a fragile truce with manager Kevin Keegan.

Ashley called for an end to the civil war tearing the club apart as Keegan emerged from an, at times, heated four-hour showdown with his job intact.

The thing is Owen cant lose

He is on mega bucks to sit tight, if he moves on a bosman he can still earn the same wage, he will pocket a big signing on fee a decent wages, which will make it around the same

and Newcastle lose 15-20 goals a season which should put them back in the shite again

He'll lose if he signs the contract now.

He'll try and sit tight, so he can leave for nothing next summer, or at least try and get the same deal at Newcastle. If he doesn't sign now, then its up to Keegan to do a Rafa and get rid now, rather than lose him for nothing.

Spot on there. Keegan is a cheque book maanger, who showed with England, that if he isn't given pots of cash to throw at every problem, he hasn't got a clue. He'll need alot more than £20m to turn that team around. Its a bit rich of Keegan to moan about the top 4 monopoly though, when you look how much Newcastle have spent over the last few years, as its about the same as us and Arsenal.

Ashley seems like your typical Geordie supporter and a general muppet. He'll sack a manager every 6 months everytime there's a bit of dissent from the best fans in the world. How long though, till that other Newcastle classic gets an airing; Sack the board?
