The irony because he is a load of Number 2.

Behrami has had countless fights with his manager because he doesn't want to play as a full back, despite the fact that he could be a very good one.
Also, people are making Degen out to be worse than he is, I remember being very impressed by him in the World Cup.

Re: Players to be bought for next season under American ownership
Can someone explain why Benitez would go out and spend money on more of "Dem dirty foreigners" if he had better players in the reserves?
He obviously doesn't think that the players are good enough, their nationality has nothing to do with it. Whether other people think they are good enough is another matter altogether but there must be some pretty brilliant players in the reserves to have given Darby as big a test as Lionel Messi will give a player.

He's consistently said that the reserves are 1 year away from competing for the 1st team.

Why is that ffs you might just get 2 good fullbacks from the ressies and a striker who can partner Torres from that squad also
I am about to go into my next year we will shit'em all mode full of optimisim about what the new season will bring
And even if we dont sign one player i will still be in that mode cos we are LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB
Fuck the Yanks, Fuck DCI, Fuck Moores & Parry,
We will be LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB long after those twats have all faded away
And regardless of who is in a Red shirt next season we can beat anyone

Re: Players to be bought for next season under American ownership
Gareth Barry would be a v good signing, he alone will not take us to the next level. We have drawn 13 league games this season and only scored 22 goals away from home in the league compared to Arsenal's 36, Villa's 35 & Man United 31. We need to find another match winner & someone who can score 12-15+ league goals in a team that is too over reliant on Gerrard and Torres. I'm sure Babel will continue to develop, but we need to find someone else who can be a regular goal threat fro midfield.

Re: Players to be bought for next season under American ownership
I totally agree about Degan, I just don't see the need. As for being free, nothing is free in this world. There will be a signing on fee, plus wages.
If we are hard up that could be as much as up to two million, although probably a bit less.
Although I would like a first choice right back, there are areas much more pressing areas.
Almost everyone and their dog would rather have one or two top drawer players. The same would be probably true about what positions need those couple of players, although the later would be open to debate.
We do not need another four or five in and out. More class less quantity.

Totally agree too. We will have to pay him off too if we want to move him on before his contract expires.
Also agree with your "more class less quantity" comment. I think there is a temptation to tinker with the team selection too much if Rafa has a huge squad to choose from. He would be better operating with a squad of 17-18 top class players who can play in a number of different positions ie. Babel, Carragher, Gerrard, Barry etc

Feel free too, but surely you must admit that Riise hasn't played well for the past 2 years?

He's been excellent, apart from that unfortunate own goal against Chelsea he's been one of our strongest performancers. Works hard and terrorizes defenses all over England with his pace and dangerous cross. A constant threat.
