Do you hear me say that he's mediocre? He's good but doesn't suit the premiership and is better suited to the spanish and italian league where they give you more time on the ball.

So them wanting to buy him means he's world class is that what you're saying? Are you saying that every player they have is world class? I don't think so somehow.

Alonso is good but not world class and barca and juve wanting him doesn't all of a sudden mean he's a world class player. Plus i don't rate juve or barca ahead of any of the top 4 teams in the premiership. The premiership is the hardest league in the world and the champions league has shown how much stronger the english teams are to teams in europe. So juve and barca wanting alonso doesn't impress me.....we can beat both teams.

If does want to go home (Which I don't think he does), why would he go to Juve?

Because Ranieri has an evil plan to recreate the Liverpool-side that beat West Brom away in 2006. Cisse and Riise are going there too.

Re: Juventus preparing £15 million Alonso bid

i reckon he'd do well for them, linking up with Sissoko again (didnt they play together when we got 82 points?), I reckon they would be competitive in the league and the CL.

I don't want him to leave but i think Rafa is tempted to cash in and use the money to buy Barry and Ramsay, the valuations seem to match.

Hmmm. Im not certain. Why some are in such a hurry to move Alonso on for £15m I dont know. Juve would probably want to spread that over 3 or 4 years meaning we'd only get £5m tops in year one.

Doesnt sound such a good deal when viewed this way, does it?

But we'd spread the payment for our new player across 3 or 4 years as well.

Re: Juventus preparing £15 million Alonso bid

I honestly would take 15 million without doubt for Xabi. He has been and still is a class act of a player but I just don't think we need him enough. The system we now play doesn't suit him well (not to say he can't play to a decent level in it). I reckon his stock is at an all time high right now because the Istanbul season is still fresh in memory (that season we played 4-4-2 mostly and Xabi excelled more in that system).

If he performs next season as he has this season (which wasn't bad, just not great either) I believe his valuation will fall. I think he would continue to perform this way as well, in the formation that we play and will surely continue with next season, therefore I would take the 15 million now and try and mix it up a bit with Barry in there instead, who's a bit more all action.

From speaking to mates and work colleagues, and gaging opinion on here, it seems very split doesn't it? I'm in favour of selling him, if Barry is tied up first. I also add if we were'nt to sell Alonso I wouldn't be too dissapointed either but if 15 mil comes in and we can bring Barry in for 10 mil I'd take it. Let's not forget in signing Barry we also then have more than capable cover at Left back and left midfield.

Absolutely correct. End of subject. Anyone disagreeing with that should start watching tennis or something instead.

Who agrees though that his perfomances in the EPL for the last 2 years have been less than world class?

I agree with that. Not that he's performed badly or anything, not world class though.
