Schuster is a very good manager who has won la liga ONCE, capello won it last season with madrid. Rijkaard has the tactical nouse of Paul Mersons nose.

Is there nothing that can't be used as a dig at our players, manager or club?

Pep is interim according to the radio! Pep is Barca through and through though.

Re: Rijkaard Sacked.

I don't rate Rijkaard one bit, but he was perfect for Barcelona. I've said it elsewhere, but a club that has had their resources and talent over the years should have enjoyed greater success than they have. They are under-acheving eye candy. I don't for one second doubt that they will get somebody else in who will continue this trend. Viva Espanyol!

I agree with the point about Schuster though. I think he's a quality coach who is developing an impressive track record, in Spanish football at least. When it comes to Europe, Real have looked fairly clueless in key games.

Re: Rijkaard Sacked.

I reckon Mourinho will get the Barca job. Dont think guardiola will take it till he gets some experience.

Also with a set up like Barcelona, also just being Barcelona, they can sign anyone in the world. He inherited a quality team still, even though they may have been in dissaray. You only need to compare the squad rijkaard inherited to the one rafa did to see the difference rash. I think rijkaard is a good manager, but wouldnt have him at liverpool.

Quick Quiz, which manager got the most talented player in the world, Messi, from his academy? and which manager got Neil Mellor from his?

Re: Rijkaard Sacked.

Rijkaard is a poor manager and tactically inept. With all that attacking talent he still couldn't find a proper system to get the best out of the players and barca can't defend in the slightest.

Re: Rijkaard Sacked.

And again:

Barca managers don't spend any money.

Quick quiz -

Which manager had Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Messi, Ronaldinho bought for him, Samuel Eto'o bought for him, Deco, Giuly and the harlem globlem trotter football kids production academy?

Which manager inherited Diao, Cheryrou, biscan, traore, heskey, murphy, smicer, Gerrard and Carragher.

barca spent big over a couple of summers to pad out the good players they already had with some superstars. Rafa had to replace most of the team and had Owen fuck him over last minute, with the money spread a lot thinner.

True enough. If they thought Schuster would bring them La Liga 4 years out of the next 5, but only deliver one EC final, they'd sack him. He's got one more season to prove himself, I think - which is pretty ludicrous.

Perhaps we should do a swap for a season: we send them Rafa to win them the EC, they send us Schuster to win the Prem. In fact, why not have an innovative arrangement where we rotate the two managers every other season?

This isn't a serious question, by the way...just in case.

Spot on. The comparison is ridiculous.

Rijkaard is a mediocre coach.

But not a surprise.

Re: Rijkaard Sacked.

rjikaard inheirited a simply awful side and completely turned them around. two league titles and a CL is not mediocre, he is a good manager who just went stall at the club and needs a fresh challenge again.

also if people aren't going to give the manager no credit when things are going well (chosing instead to lavish all the praise on the players) then its a tad unfair to solely blame the manager when the shit hits the fan, double standards or what?

Re: Rijkaard Sacked.

Like Real Madrid before them there are too many old, overpaid players who's best years are now behind them. Signing Henry was a mistake. I think Rijkaard could be a decent manager but would like to see him manage somewhere else before passing judgment as it's a strange environment to work in at Barca.

Re: Rijkaard Sacked.

Well against the Mancs they looked like a team in disarray full of expensive shite!
Sorry but given what he has had at his disposal he has not done a good job. A team which 2 seasons back had the potential to create a dynasty has become a team of also rans which are an embarrssment to their fans.I really do hope Chelsea sign him up as coach.
BTW why are you using this as an excuse to have a go at rafa again??
