Jermaine or Yossi?

If, hypothetically speaking, we sign a new attackingwingerstriker, to compete with Kuyt and Babel for the two positions wide of Torres, it would probably mean one of Benayoun and Pennant being surplus to requirements. We could probably expect 5 million, maybe a little more, back for either one of them, so who would you rather keep?

Jermaine started badly but played well towards the end of last season, started off this one quite well but then got injured. Decent on the ball, but doesn’t score enough. Yossi, in and out of games, lightweight, but has scored 11 goals this season, did a nice bit of setting up for the kid at Chelsea as well.

What say you?

Re: Jermaine or Yossi?

I'd give JP another season, Yossi has done nothing wrong but I just dont think he's good enough and we'd get a decent enough return off him.

Re: Jermaine or Yossi?

Sell them both actually, promote Anderson as back up and buy a new right sided player.

Re: Jermaine or Yossi?

There should have been an option to keep them both. Assuming we're sticking with 4-2-3-1 and Crouch is leaving, Yossi can play in the hole behind Torres. He'd be my first choice as back-up for Gerrard in that position.

Agreed, and I think Yossi has done allright in first season, we also need decent backup players.

Re: Jermaine or Yossi?

Considering what the expectation was from club and fans, Yossi has had a great season IMO. Never dreamed he would get the goals he has, and has played his part his part in the team well enough to deserve another season. Pennant, everything about him made me want to hate him but I just couldn't, it's like a light switch went on in his head and his whole attitude and persona has changed. I think he finally realises what he has to do to cement his place in our squad and the national one aswell (which we all know is his dream). To summise I, like others think we should keep them both, they won't expect to start every game but will give you a 100% when they do or off the bench.

Re: Jermaine or Yossi?

It's a tough one to answer really because until we know how much money we have to spend, then we don't know how many players we can afford to let go.

In an ideal world, we'd sell them both and bring in a really top player but that might not be realistic.

If I had to keep one of them, it would be Pennant.

Re: Jermaine or Yossi?

Well it's all a case of what you expected from him isn't it, His role against H and V saved us from complete humiliaton in the cup, he's never a player you look at and think, he could win us the game yet he has done, I don't think he could of done much more this season all things considered.

I agree with that. Some of Yossi`s best moments has come when he has been allowed to play in the centre. Like Luis he can be frustrating, and he do drift in and out of games, but he has produces his shares of goals, is good on the break and has an eye for a pass. I like Yossi.

Re: Jermaine or Yossi?

Neither really deserve to be sold but one of them absolutely must be upgraded.

I reckon if Crouch goes, Pennant will follow, unless he shows a goal scoring threat. Our right sided forward needs to be able to score goals ALA Dirk "I am so Clutch it makes you Horny" Kuyt.

Yossi really could have had twice as many goals which is why I think we should keep him.

He doesn't always make the smartest run, or go to the high percentage areas, but he gets scoring chances. If he was a bit more clinical, I think we could have seen 15-20 goals from Yossi in all competitions easily.

edit: Wanted to add that Yossi has 11goals right now in all comps.
