Was Torres injured?

Apparantly Sky have been nudge nudge, wink winking about this all day, i can't and don't believe Benitez would lie about a players injury and then ask the player involved to do the same, or am i being naive? I know Ferguson does it all the time with his international players, but that is for the benefit of his team and not to use as a shield against any criticism. Thoughts?

Re: Was Torres injured?

I think he would.

Its sad that he should have to but the media are such, and even our own fans are sometimes so fickle that he may have felt it was easier to just say "he felt a twinge in his hanstring" and be done with it.

I don't think anyone said he was injured - I thought they said he complained about his hamstring being tight so they took him off.

Perhaps it was that prompt action that helped him play today.

Re: Was Torres injured?

I'm inclined to believe it was a preventative move, rather than a belated response, which is why, after treatment, he could play today. Unlike Sky, I doubt Rafa took him off simply to undermine his own team's chances.

Re: Was Torres injured?

I don't think Rafa would lie if Torres actually wasn't injured and he just wanted to make that substitution, he didn't when Lucas came on for Gerrard at Goodison.

Rafa has never been afraid to make unpopular subs/lineups, so I doubt he would bother making things up to cover himself.

Re: Was Torres injured?

They're so anti-Rafa they've lost all links with logic. They now seem to genuinely believe Rafa buys a top class striker, then rests him early in the season until he's sure the Premiership is beyond the team, then subs him when he fears we still have a chance of the Champions League Final. It is so insane it's comical.

Hmm, who to trust, Rafa or Sky?

My vote goes to the witless, agenda driven dribblecunts.

I know, they get worse every passing season and i've genuinely no idea why, what on Earth has he done to invite their constant ridicule?

Re: Was Torres injured?

It was a heavy pitch but seeing it was 'shit or bust' time, I think he could have possibly have taken a chance and kept him on.

That said, I think the reason was just that Torres was run out. I've noticed in a couple of games this season he looked absolutely knacked when he came off.

Its still his first season inthe PL so allowances have to be made for building his fitness to last a whole English season.

Re: Was Torres injured?

They were basically accusing Rafa of telling lies, but none of them have the balls to say it to his face. So if is all "really surprised" to see him playing today. Toothless, biased idiots.

1) He's foreign.

2) He manages Liverpool.

3) He's not a "character" who gives them memorable quotes or headlines by being an arsehole.

4) He hasn't achieved enough success yet to force them to give him respect.

It's unbelieveable that mediocre managers like Fat Sham and the Bog eyed cunt command so much respect yet very good/great Managers like Sven and Rafa get so much contempt for this country's media.

The foriegn thing is defintely an issue.

Re: Was Torres injured?

It was funny watching Keys and Platt talking about and failing to comprehend the fact that a player can have a tight hamstring and then play a few days later.

Tits.

Re: Was Torres injured?

Of course he was. 1st off Rafa does not sub Torres off unless we're 2 goals clear and the only other time he was injured.

Secondly , Rafa would not give any of this countrys media the time of day in regards to their football knowledge. Basically he could not give a fuck what they think about his decisions so he wouldnt lie.
