Re: Villa captain Barry told to sign for Liverpool - by his own team-mate
Yeah Red Nick... but its not happening to us so it's a good thing.
Being a supporter allows perks like a morally casual approach to all things that benefit us. |

Paddy's been fucked off by O'Neil for this.

But we don't have any players that fit that sort of criteria. Happy days. I'd be fuming if one of our players did that. But none of our players have done that so why worry?

I love reading Bourbon's posts, because in my head they come out in a Dennis Taylor accent. This one worked particularly well.

Re: Villa captain Barry told to sign for Liverpool - by his own team-mate
I think Berger has paid the price for saying what everybody else (except for the real die-hard Villa fans) has been thinking. I reckon he isn't the only Villa player to think "yeah, Barry's done really well for a decade and deserves to play at the highest level".
I mean, a football club is a workplace at the end of the day, and Berger has probably done what any collegue would do in any other job. Ok, it's different here as the media isn't involved in every job but essentially what Paddy has done isn't really wrong. I'll bet there's some serious editing in the original interview though to stir things up some more. It probably wouldn't suprise me if Barry has actually thought, "what would it be like to play for Liverpool, I know, I'll ask Paddy, he's been there" If there had been an England squad coming up, then chances are Barry would have probably approached Gerrard (as they both seem to get along) and asked the very same question. Then O'Neill would have been fucked as he couldn't do anything about it.

Actually if anything, it would have been like Zenden telling Gerrard he should join Chelsea a few years back. We'd have been livid. I'm delighted to hear this from Berger as a Liverpool fan, but I can fully understand O'Neils and the Villa fans anger.

Fuck it who cares. Yeah it was wrong for Paddy to do it but it benefits us so good on him. Yep i'm being TOTALLY biased but its called being a fan. Being a fan means you have double standards and what we would normally hate we would find acceptable if it benefits us. All clubs do it so why hide it? Personally i think its good that a ex red is telling barry so openly to join us. If someone did it it us i'd be pissed....double standards, but so what fuck it.

Re: Villa captain Barry told to sign for Liverpool - by his own team-mate
But it wouldn't be. that would make us Villa and Chelsea would be us. Villa to Liverpool is not the same as Liverpool to Chelsea which ever way you look at it.

Actually it's not really double standards. It's pointing out what is acceptable to you and whats not. I'm happy that Paddy said it, but I understand why Villa fans are pissed.

I agree that Villa to Liverpool isn't the same. But if Chelsea win a 3rd league in 4 years and the European Cup...... I'll be jealous the success, but obviousely not of the club.

Re: Villa captain Barry told to sign for Liverpool - by his own team-mate
Well it is double standards because if you're saying it's acceptable then it should be acceptable both ways. Sort of like saying it's ok for me to cheat, but not ok for me to be cheated on...double standards. But hey i'm a fan so i'm allowed to have double standards, it's part of football.

Paddy is ace, one of my all time favourite players. He's too good for Villa anyway. Wath the useless cunts blow it again this weekend. Everton will lose to the Geordies, but it won't matter as Villa will bottle it, as usual.

I think everyone thinks it's great what Berger said. And you're not getting any extra greens as I have it on good authority that you're not Paddy Berger. i know this because...........I'm Paddy Berger.

Villa grebs chanting "Where's Your Madelaine?" after the Gerrard free kick first game of the season at the train station after.
Bad, bad biffs.

Re: Villa captain Barry told to sign for Liverpool - by his own team-mate
"You know, the greatest day in my football life was the day I signed for Liverpool. I couldn’t believe it. When I was young in Czechoslovakia, we didn’t see much European football, but my father’s friend went to England and he watched Liverpool. When he came back, he gave me the programme, the ticket and a scarf. I still have them all.
When I moved to Southport to live, my neighbour was Kenny Dalglish. Alan Hansen lived around the corner. I met them, they were normal guys, but they were my heroes. To me, it’s the best club in the world and when I am finished playing and I’m telling my children about it I will be proud to say that for seven years I was a Liverpool player." Whaddaguy! :'-) |
