Barry is a very solid player. I think he'd be an improvement on Alonso because Alonso has been poor for some time now give or take a few games.

Barry and another first teamer would be great.

Perhaps the Spaniard who left Barca to come to us didn't realise that - or the Spaniard who turned down Real to carry on managing us was a little confused.

There must be an explanation!

Ask any of the top managers in Europe who there top 5 clubs would be,and id guarentee we come in the top 4 of most.

In my mind we are the biggest in the world but we have to be realistic... not a single Spaniard would say we are bigger than Barca and Real... look at their records and previous players....

Barca have an alumni that includes Ronaldo, Romario, Haji, Stoichkov, Koeman, Cruyff, Maradona, Beguiristáin, Laudrup to name but a few..and 100,000 capacity stadium and club owned by the fans.

Real are the most successful club in world football... you can't argue with that. So if one of our Spanish lads told Gerrard to go to a top Spanish club I'd hate him for it.

Um... I have Rashid on Ignore so I can't quote him but since people keep quoting him... I have a response for his "To a spaniard bollocks..."

To a spaniard, Liverpool is literally the top team outside of Spain. I'm not spanish but I spend time there, speak the language, and many mates to live there, etc.

The only competition for Madrid/Barca is Liverpool FC.
