Re: Insua

Insua is faster then what he showed today but i disagree about his lack of aggresion. He is more then willing to put in a challenge but the lad doesnt go to ground if it doesnt need it and prefers to stay on his feet.

Over time and with confidence he will attack more and im certain he will become a regular first team player.

Re: Insua

He was obviously restricting himself and not bombing on like I've seen in the reserves, most likely he has been told to sit just so he can settle easier. He was as already said solid, I'm happy with him and hopefully he can really press for the LB spot next season.

I don't think he is overweight at all. He is just stocky like a lot of Argentinian footballers. He may perhaps have been standing beside Lucas when he looked overweight.

Agree with that, similar short stocky build as alot of Argentinian players, Tevez, Sorin and Aguero etc.

Manny is an unknown quantity
Re: Insua

He impressed me today. He wasn't outstanding by any means, but he was steady, stuck to his task and I really liked his composure in playing the ball out of defence. He got stuck in a couple of times as well. I'm no regular reserves team watcher, but I understand there's more to him than we saw today, which bodes well. Nice game to ease him in as well.

Re: Insua

Ahead of the match Benitez handed a first start of the season to reserve left-back Emiliano Insua, and after the Argentinean produced a composed display, the Reds boss was keen to offer some encouraging words for the youngster.

"I think he did okay," continued Rafa.

"These kind of games are difficult to come into but against a player with experience he was good. I told him not to go forward so much as we have Ryan Babel on the left, who is a very offensive player.

"But when he did go forward he was good and it is one of his main attributes. Today he was good in defence, worked hard and showed quality on the ball.

"We have some players very close to the first team. They will need more experience but at least you know you can use them if you need to and Insua is one of these players."

Re: Insua

I just hope he has a good run of twenty odd games but its highly unlikely that will happen isnt it?

Re: Insua

I thought he was caught out of position a couple of times early on, overcommitting to challenges and Vassell gave him a couple of problems with his pace but overall he can be pleased with his home debut. He was good on the ball mostly and as the game went on he was able to show off a couple of his great runs.

He can contribute a lot more going forward too.

He still kicks the ball weirdly though :)

That rule is the most sensible thing they have passed in years. It wil allow every club to start giving Youth players a chance.

Re: Insua

Playing in the back 4 is being part of a unit, it takes time to become part of that unit look at Skrtel he was murdered on here after one game not so now

The lad will get better the more games he gets i would love to see the lad get a run of games now, Pre season, and maybe starting next season should he come through that.

We will still need cover even if he does get the nod as we play to many games to expect the young lad to play everyone so might be we have Aurelio and Insua as cover

Re: Insua

I thought he was okay, nothing more, nothing less.

I see there that Rafa told him not to get forward as much as he likes, so that's probably why he didn't stand out as much as he could. In the ressies he just bombs forward all of the time so it's obviously going to effect him if he's told not to play to his natural game.

Re: Insua

He did reasonably okay, but it's early days. Vignal looked better when he first broke into the first team, so that says everything really! You have to give it a year or so before you can really tell if young players are going to be good enough.

He deserves to keep his place for the Spurs match, in my opinion.
