Barry or Bentley ??
Total hypothetical question,but seems tho these two names keep getting banded about.If you had the choice which one of these would you want us to sign ??

Both don't fill me with excitement but out of the two i'd prefer barry as he would fit into our new system better. Also we could do a straight swap plus maybe £2m for barry. Plus i think bentley is too slow for a winger.

If Alonso stays, which i hope he does then we wont bother with Barry.

Bentley is a good player and better then what we currently have on the right but i wouldnt say he is a massive leap that i would hope we would achieve on the right.

I think Gareth Barry is well good enough, he does everything, gets loads of assists, a few goals, can tackle, he'd be a great signing. He's had a fantastic season, if he wants to go we should sign him. When he played against Israel he was immense, probably MOM, playing alongside Stevie G.

Depends on who leaves. It looks like Xabi is probably on his way, and if so I'd go for Barry as I think he'd be a good replacement even though he's a totally different type of player. I like Barry, but I love Alonso and would prefer him to stay.

As for Bentley, he isn't worth what it would cost to buy him, although if he was left footed I'd be well up for signing him as he'd vastly improve us if he could play on that side.

Of the two, Barry would be a more logical choice on the assumption that Alonso is off.

Barry - if xabi goes it's a similar replacement , not quite as good passer but better going forward and more assists. Can also play the kuyt-like position for the left which would be good with Pennant on the right. I'd prefer Xabi to stay of course.
I just have a feeling we're not in for Bentley.

I agree about Barry,he does have some great attributes and along with Young is Villas best player at the moment

If Xabi were to leave,which I dont want.Then Barry would be more logical he is neat and tidy and could also do a job on the left when needed.

Xabi is only good for european games let's be honest, and even then its few and far between. The guy has no pace, not strong enough and is too static. I've been wanting him sold since last season. I'm no huge fan of barry but at least he's more mobile, stronger, quicker and will go forward more helping out in attack and has a better shot on him.

Yeah i heard from someone that the Barry deal is 90% on and that crouch is going to Portsmouth. The guy CLAIMS to know barry's agent but hey don't shoot the messenger.

None, and to be honest I think these rumours about Barry and Bentley are media bollocks. Rafa would never go out and spend £15m for some average English player if he could get a foreign player that's just as good or even better at a lower price.

Well thankfully it LOOKS like bentley won't be going anywhere according to Hughes. He intends to treat bentley the same way he treated mccarthy and roberts who both tried to leave last season. Good on him really as i don't want Bentley
