This Magical Wide Player

So who is he or more to the point if we spent all the Alonso & Crouch money on him who could we realistically buy because I cant think of anyone that really jumps out like a Torres or a Etoó but to be fair I wasnt sure about Torres when we signed him and now he´s the best striker in the world.

So who is that quality wide player that will be on the level of Torres and Gerrard, because lets face it he has to walk straight into the first 11 not another squad player.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

We just need to sign two players who are better in their positions than the players we currently have. That will improve the first eleven, that should have been the priority for the last few seasons not building the biggest squad in LFC history.

If he could play like he did yesterday against top quality opposition, we already have him.

While there is some truth in this argument, don't you feel that the signings of Alonso, Agger, Torres, Reina, Mascherano and maybe even Skrtel have been improvements on what was there in the first place. I would even mention Arbeloa, Aurelio and Babel and Crouch in that list, but I don't think many would agree with me.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

Maxi Rodriguez.

1 goal in 3 wide player would be a big improvement in terms of productivity over Kuyt

Not worth getting a left winger of great stature in as it will block babel's development.

I would hope we could get a new leftback and rightback aswell that would be better than what we have but that might be pushing it.

If we only have the money for one top player thats what we should do, just sign one

Re: This Magical Wide Player

If its an all eggs in one basket signing then for me it has to Ribery. It'd take a huge amount of money and persuasion to get him from Bayern but the lad is top. Ideal for the right but can play left and centre too.

Statements like this really piss me off and wind me up

We are Liverpool FC FFS not a feeder or development club, your either good enough to hold down your position in the first team or not.

If we sign someone better then he should immediately go into the first team and Babel would then have to prove he was good enough to replace the new signing or move on. that has always been the Liverpool way

Yep, he´s the only one I can think of that is pure quality who would drastically improve the first 11

Re: This Magical Wide Player

I want a real top player for the left. IMO Kuyt will be in the first XI next season as a right sided attacker. Babel will hopefully be a superb player in 12-18 months but he is not consistent enough. We therefore need another top qulity player for the left. Babel kan both play left and right, and can also play in the middle.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

this summer is crucial and Rafa is in a tough position, he needs to sign the right players and nail his colours to the mast, he needs to say "this is my right winger" or "this is my left winger", we cannot afford any more average squad players and even buying potential is tricky if they need a season to settle in, if he ends up buying players who are not good enough or who just sit on the bench for half the season and don't improve the first XI, I can't see him being here much longer as we won't be competitive in the league

I suppose i would be looking at Quaresma, Silva, Bentley, players capable of going into the first XI and playing 90 minutes

Ribery does seem to have a penchant for moving clubs once a season so I wouldn't rule it out.

Quaresma, Ben Arfa or Pandev for me, Babel can stay on the left or move to the right depending on which one.

I just dont see anyone else and at least he works for the team which rules out Quaresma.

unless chelsea want to sell us Joe Cole and I am not sure everyone else would be that happy with such a signing

Unfortunately, we don't have the money to practice this transfer policy.

And, all the best teams have to blood youngsters to allow them to develop.

its alright saying "this is rafa's time to really show what he has got" but the fecker (probably0 has feck all the play with this summer!

lets just say if Rafa finishes the summer spending with a couple of free transfers and a 5 million pound player i wont be thinking "he fucked up" i will be thinking "fuck me, we are poor mother fuckers"
