Agree. I'd also add a right back since Finnan looks unfortunately to be on the wain.

David Silva from Valencia might not be a bad shout for the left. Valencia have been woeful this season and will probably only just avoid relegation. i'm sure a couple of their star players will be off. Him and Babel as options on the left, plus Silva can also opertae behind Torres need be if Gerrard isn't playing there.

I'm not worried about right back at all myself. Finnan and Arbeloa are good players who help to contribute to what is an excellent defensive unit.

We need to turn draws into wins, and for that we need more match-winners.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

The oft overlooked issue we really need to address is... what do we do when Torres gets injured? It's bound to happen with the way the refs allow him to get kicked everytime he touches the ball.

The only reason I would consider those players is because we will likely have no cash, having spent what was borrowed, and I think they would all be improvements on the ones we'll probably be selling to raise any transfer funds.

It's about ability - where they come from has very little bearing for me.

I think Bentley is massively over-rated IMO.
I was joking about the exotic thing.

Can't say I think Bentley is over-rated, the majority of people on here don't even rate him.

I've been one of Finnan's biggest supporters over the years, he's been consistenyl in the top 3 performers IMO over the last 3 years but this years he's been poor. The amount of basic errors he's made has been startling, probably as many as the previous seasons put together.

I think we'll sign that Rafinha fella from Germany.

Correct. I rate both Barry and Bentley, but I'm not convinced that they alone will take us to the next level. We need to find another player that can score 12-15+ league goals a season.

I think Finnan's 'demise' has been really overstated. He's not been at his best but I think there's been mitigating circumstances for that, such as the injuries he's had and also the fact that he's been in and out of the team.

He's fit at the moment but over the last few weeks he's been in and out and it must be difficult finding your rhythm in those circumstances.

You might be right about Rafinha there, but I think the money would be better spent elsewhere in the team.

As always, it's very much a case of 'wait and see' though mate!

Tony Barrett said a few week's ago that we weren't interested in Rafinha anymore.

Finnan was pretty bad yesterday though

Re: This Magical Wide Player

I think Finnan is the new Hyypia. It's not long ago that people were writing Sami off, but he came back stronger than ever. I'm pretty confident that Finnan will do the same. He'll need a run in the team to get his confidence and match fitness back up though.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

I really hope he does because I have always rated Finnan, even when he was trying to settle into a shit side under Houllier and no-one else did, but by and large he has had a very poor season by his standards.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

Finnan is our best right back.... Arbeloa is our best left back. Pennant is our best right sided player. Gerrard is our best centre midfield player. Yet none play or play in their best positions. Pragmatism at it's worst.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

Finnan is not our best right back, Arbeloa is and Aurelio is our best left back.

In fact now that I think about it, Gerrard is our best right back, centre midfielder and right sided player.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

You say Barry is'nt a match winner who can turn draws into wins but he can indirectly by setting people up.

His delivery from set pieces and just generally is ace as he showed today.

Carra is easily our best RB and Aurellio is easily our best LB (after Carra of course)

Opinions eh
