I'd take Ben Arga over even Quaresma.. he is the next Ronaldo.

He's been linked to Arsenal twice a week since Christmas. I'd like to have him though.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

I would go with Silva. I think he would fit in perfectly on our wings. The pace and dribbling skills of Him, Babel & Torres interchanging with gerrard behind would be awesome.

Although Ribery would be quality too.

Re: This Magical Wide Player

Depending on his price I'd go for Ashley Young.
I think he's proving himself at Villa and might not actually cost as much as a foreigner capable of playing at a similar level. He'd certainly be less of a risk in comparable terms.

Dunno, about £15m - £20m? Guess they'd look to Modrić, Nani, Anderson fees and want a similar amount, if not more.

Lyon are tough negotiators, so 15-20m sounds about right.

At that price he would be very interesting but you´d probably have to look at his performances in the CL to decide on his abiility to succeed here.

At least we now have some possibilities from the start of the thread when i couldnt think of anyone.

id be happy with any of

Silva
Ribbery
Ben Arfa
Ashley Young

IMO if he keeps progressing he'll be comparable to Zizou

Weren't we interested when he went to Villa, but put off by the price of £8M rising to £10M? I don't think he'd be cheap at all.

There's only so far top quality players can go in the French League - it is obviously much weaker than Bundesliga, La Liga, Premiership, Serie A etc.

If the guy wants to succeed, he would have little option but to move on.

I think he'll stay there for a while though, he;s only about 18, 19 'innhe?

Neither do I Zig, in fact the words I'd use would be 'cost a fucking fortune'. We were in for him when he left Watford, but we baulked at the 9m Villa paid...given the crazy world we live in where a players valuation goes up by a million just for being on the telly with their laces done up properly, then why would Villa sell for under 15m? Why would Villa sell at all? They aren't impoverished and O'Neill is doing a grand job, Lerner will back him with proper dough in the Summer.

Maybe he would want to come here and follow in the illustrious footsteps of all his fellow countrymen who have gone on to be massive successes at our football club.

For what it's worth, him and Nasri are a cut above anything we've ever had from France to be fair

I'd pay £15m for him, which I think is reasonable when you think of the price some of the other players mentioned would go for.

Bentley, it seems, would cost £15m.
Ben Arfa, what £20m?
Ribery, £20-£25m?

I think Young has got everything we are looking for. He's young, has pace, creates goals, scores a few (used to be a striker), and is already proven/proving in the Premiership.

We may have baulked at the price before but then he was coming from Watford and was a bigger risk.

Villa would absolutely not want to sell, but if we put in a serious offer the lad himself might be tempted enough to put his foot down.
