Re: Jermaine Pennant

Pennant and Crouch is effectively our Plan B at this moment in time. Benayoun is perhaps the only other reserve attacker worth keeping as the likes of Kewell and Voronin are gash..

Re: Jermaine Pennant

The main problem with Pennant is that he gets all awe inspired when he is playing with Gerrard and Torres, if he just learned that they are on his team and he doesnt have to be all panini stickers and autograph books every time gerrard even wants to pass to him he would be a decent player in all situation.

Great touch to nick it ast the brum player in the lead up to Crouch's goal.

Re: Jermaine Pennant

The bad thing about Pennant´s breathtaking performances of late is he will be going to the European Championships. I would much rather see him spend the summer with Rafa.

Well I definitely agree with one point you make - his attitude really has improved. The lack of pace and goals has always been glaring though, despite his obvious talent at running with the ball. In the current climate, he's a saleable asset and I'd prefer to realise the cash we could get for him to finance a top class signing than keep him as a relatively expensive squad option. Dirk, Babel and Yossi can all play in his position, so I'd let him go. He'd be a good signing for most Premiership teams. I reckon Portsmouth or Villa would suit him well.

Re: Jermaine Pennant

I'd have no problem if rafa decided to keep pennant in the squad.
kewell is leaving so let's not ship out ALL our attacking midfielders, eh?

Those 3 all play in a similar way, cutting inside the majority of the time so wouldn't it make sense to sell one of those players and keep the guy that does something different?

Exactly.

Dirk is a striker and should spend next season as understudy to Torres. Babel needs to fight for one of the 3 positions behind Torres... and Yossi needs to be sold to newly promoted team.

Keep Pennant, he offers width and lest we forget that he was MOM in a European Cup Final and has a great attitude and won't moan about being a squad player.

Re: Jermaine Pennant

jp needs to bear some things in mind;

a) if he leaves liverpool the only way will be down as I can't see any of the top three coming in for him
b) rafa rotates, he will get games
c) he isn't really going to work himself into the england setup as there are too many people ahead of him in the queue so he may as well concentrate on club football.

I would be against keeping yossi and pennant and bring in one quality wide player. if as expected crouch and voroninare released (kewell gone on a free) that would leave us

strikers
torres
kuyt
babel
nemeth (I'm sure he will get chances next season)

wide players
new guy
babel
kuyt (if played there by rafa)
pennant
yossi
